Walktober Challenge Winners
The GTJHS Science team of Larry O'Hara, Cathy Flanagan, Nick Snyder, Kerina Ivey, and Scott Rippeon won the Walktober Challenge and NutriBullet Pros for each team member, with a combined 4,568,428 steps.
Personal Testimony: "This is my first year teaching at TJ, so it was a great team building experience for me to be able to see my teammates input their steps each day and make me want to do my part. I was able to put in many of my daily steps between teaching and coaching the Cross Country team. Joining my team on runs as well as running and biking on my own were my other main source of daily steps. [This] was a great competition and the website helped motivate [me] to keep up with others around the county."
The individual with the most steps -- 1,570,869 -- was Scott Rippeon from Governor Thomas Johnson High School, winning the FitBit Versa Smart Watch.
As a second time winner, one would ask, "What do you do to get so many steps in six weeks?" Scott is a marathon runner, he goes on three hour bike rides, participates in martial arts twice a week, spends quality time with his son by going on long walks, regularly exercises on stationary bike and rowing machine, and participates in Pilates and body weight workouts. With all these physical activities, it's no wonder he has won the challenge twice in a row!
