FCPS Earns Meritorious Budget Award Achieves Significant BOE Goal
"FCPS has been expanding our budget book for several years to meet the strenuous criteria of the Association of School Business Officials' Meritorious Budget Award," says Chief Financial Officer Leslie Pellegrino. "I am so proud of Budget Officer Heather Clabaugh and her team--Doreen Bass, Jessica Clabaugh, Sue Weeks and Kathy Whitcomb--for their efforts to reach this pinnacle, and I am equally proud of the comprehensive budget book we publish for our community. Achieving this recognition was one of the goals established in our BOE's strategic plan." Appreciation also goes to FCPS Multimedia Graphics Coordinator Kyle Raines in the Public Affairs Department for his work on the award-winning publication, FY2021 FCPS Adopted Operating Budget. FCPS All-Star Achieving the Promise of Public Education
Julitza Martinez does such excellent work with the Butterfly Ridge ES community that Principal Dr. Patty Hosfelt recently promoted her from special education instructional assistant to community liaison. Julitza "has built such tremendous relationships with students and families that she was the clear choice for this new position," Dr. Hosfelt says.
During the pandemic, Julitza has taken the time to learn new technology in order to translate English directions into Spanish, helping to make distance-learning instructions accessible for all. She meets with teachers to learn their expectations and then calls parents to ensure they understand. When anything is asked of her, Julitza steps up to the challenge with a smile and follows up the task by asking, “What else?” Colleagues commend Julitza for the many ways she does everything in her power to ensure that students succeed.
Congratulations to Julitza Martinez and other staff earning 2020 FCPS All-Star Awards since our September edition: Sally Clever, Christine Cline, Nicki Conlon, Cheryl Grese, Deborah McCadney and Lizbeth Mummert.
