Congratulations to fifth grader, Quinn McCullers Vongnaraj, the PES 2019-2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Representative! Quinn will be recognized at the annual FCPS MLK Celebration held tonight Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. Quinn exemplifies all the pillars of character counts and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Since Kindergarten, Quinn has shown kindness and leadership to all those around him. He works hard and helps others, all while keeping a positive attitude and a sense of humor. He is conscientious, always looking out for others, fair, and stands up for what’s right. He’s a determined learner who always seeks out opportunities to improve himself. As a member of our Peer Ambassadors, he’s a role model and encourages other students to respect themselves and to be their best selves. We are all Panda Proud of Quinn!
PES – Restricted for 2020-2021
Based on our projected enrollment of 248 students, PES has been identified as a “restricted school” for the upcoming school year. Families who are currently out-of-district will need to reapply in order to be considered eligible for the 2020 -2021 school year. Eligibility will be based on county guidelines as stated in Regulation 400- 78 - Restricting Schools to Out-of-District Transfers Regulation 400-15 - Assignment and Transfer of Students.
Four Stars Earned on the MSDE Report Card (Revise)
Parkway Elementary School received 5 out of 5 Stars on the MSDE Report Card. We earned 61.4 out of 75 possible points. Points were earned in the following areas: Academic Achievement (13.4 out of 20) , Academic Progress (24.5 out of 30) and School Quality and Student Success (23.5 out of 25). Our total percent earned was 81% and we were one of only 10 elementary schools in FCPS receiving 5 Stars! Hats off to our students, staff and community for our focus on student success! Beanstack Winter Challenge
FCPS is participating in a county wide Winter Reading Challenge for the month of January. The challenge is open to all students and staff members. Students log minutes read in Beanstack.
If Parkway Elementary is one of the top reading schools we could win $1000 in books for our Media Center or an author visit for the entire school. Please remind your children to log their minutes in Beanstack!

Nominations for the Elementary School Magnet Program for the upcoming school year are due to the Front Office by February 28, 2019. The Parent/Guardian Rating form is available at http://www.fcps.org/advacademics.
Applications for Out-of-District Status for the 2020-2021 school year are available on at www.fcps.org and are due March 1.
Students should arrive to school by 8:55 am in order to be prepared for the instructional day which begins at 9:00 am. Please encourage your child to be on time so he or she can be ready for learning!
