Ms Underhill and Ms Bishop's 6th grade history classes are working furiously on creating some spectacular, creative mummies as part of our Egypt unit. Thank you to all the parents who bought and donated supplies for their kiddos! They are learning tons about Egyptian religion as well as putting their artistic abilities to good use!
6th grade Food Science has just finished their instructional cooking videos and did a fantastic job! We are now talking about fast food, convenience foods, sugar, genetically modified food and fats.
SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Remember that HAC is available 24/7 to monitor your child’s grades. Please be sure to check HAC at least once a week and contact your child’s teacher immediately if you have concerns.

English Learners (ELs)
English Leaners (ELs) will be taking the annual English language assessments for proficiency in reading, listening, writing and speaking on January 15-18. Please ensure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats breakfast that week. We expect our ELs will do their best on their language assessments.
Thank you!

¡Muchas gracias!

Message from Ms. Kazio to families of 8th grade students:
I know we are not through half of 8th grade year, but the process of high school registration is beginning.
I have met with all of the 8th grade students in their Math class to discuss the high school process and starting a 4-year high school plan. Hopefully your child will share this with you. They will receive info in both their Google Classroom and through Naviance. Naviance is an online planning tool that all FCPS students have access to use. It is an invaluable resource as you negotiate high school planning as well as post-high school planning. Your child can log in with his/her student id as both the login and password.
The next step is that your child's teachers will be making academic level recommendations. The high school will then host an incoming freshman information night. I highly encourage you to attend
Frederick High-December 19 from 6-8 pm
Tuscarora High-January 24, 2019 at 7 pm
It is a lot of info, so please remind your child to take a breath and try to not stress too much!! Please let me know if you have questions as we go through this process.

Please notify the staff in the health room if your child develops a contagious condition, such as chickenpox, strep throat, lice, pink eye, mono, pneumonia, etc.
Now that the cold and flu season is here, please remind your child to practice good hygiene. Hand washing and tissues are excellent barriers and deterrents. Please keep your child home from school if he/she is ill and/or has a fever. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s illness, please call your health care provider.
As an employee of the Frederick County Health Department, the Registered Nurse follows CDC guidelines to investigate and to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. She tracks student illness by monitoring absenteeism, noting the number of student visits and symptoms of illness seen in the health room, and gathering information from families and staff.
Thank you for your cooperation. You can contact the health room at 240-566-9014.
