Class of 2019 Commencement Ceremony
The Class of 2019's journey at MHS ended last Wednesday with the128th Annual Commencement Ceremony. Despite the many personal challenges each of the graduates faced on their journey to earn a diploma, they made it and are ready for future challenges. The ceremony was a wonderful event because of the contributions of many. Thank you to the MHS Staff and MHS Families for preparing and supporting the students on their journey to reach this milestone. Thank you to the MHS Senior Advisors, MHS Staff, MHS Custodians, MHS Families, MHS Orchestra, MHS Graduates- Bridget, Sarah, Samantha, Marley, Lizzy, The Class of 2019, BOE Members, and FCPS Staff for making the 2019 Commencement Ceremony one to be proud of. We are so very proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2019! Congratulations Class of 2019!
Thank you to Dr. Alban and Bradley George for sharing their photos.
Greetings Middletown Families:
It is hard to believe that there are only twelve school days remaining in the 2018-2019 school year and that summer break is only three weeks away. While it is important for students to remain self-disciplined and committed to performing at their best in their courses, this is a good time for students to start thinking and talking about their summer plans. It can be easy to lose track of time without the school-day structure. Although many students will have jobs and will be responsible for doing some chores, there will still be plenty of time to invest in personal interests and development. Establishing personal goals and smaller daily routines for the summer months will support the attainment of personal achievement goals. Curiosity drives inspiration and passion. We may not know yet what our passions are, but exposure to different experiences will foster curiosity and inspiration which will help us find our passions. The summer months provide a great opportunity to experience new things. There are many excellent opportunities to experience new things right here in Frederick. For example, the Frederick County Public Library in partnership with FCPS is offering the FCPL Summer Challenge https://www.fcpl.org/programs-events/summer-challenge. The FCPL Summer Challenge is for students in all grades as well as adults and offers activity suggestions along with prize drawings. The Frederick County Parks and Recreation provides a variety of activities for students to participate in https://www.recreater.com/27/About-Us. And Frederick Community College has programs and coursework for adults and students https://www.frederick.edu/.
Although there is a lot to accomplish in the remaining weeks of the semester, I am looking forward with excitement to planning for the summer. I think Walt Disney's quote, "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." conveys the right mindset when it comes to remaining inspired and committed to personal development and improvement.
