Keeping You Informed:
The Maryland School Survey: Teachers will administer the electronic survey to students in grades 9 through 11 on 11/7 and 11/8 during an extended second block. Seniors do not take the survey. The survey consists of the following topics: Environmental Domain-asks students if they are learning things that are important to them and are held to high expectations for learning. The domain also asks if school rules are clear and fair and if good behavior is supported and rewarded. Two topics make up this domain: instructional environment and fairness. Engagement Domain-asks students if they are treated equally and they have the opportunity to participate in all school activities, including those that occur outside of the regular school day. Two topics make up this domain: cultural and linguistic diversity and participation. Relationship Domain-asks students about the nature of teacher-student and student-student relationships and if their school has a culture of caring and respect. Two topics make up this domain: student-student relationships and student-staff relationships. Safety Domain-asks students if they feel safe from violence, bullying, and controlled-substance abuse. Four topics make up this domain: physical safety, emotional safety, bullying, and substance abuse.

Reflections Contest Calling all artists, photographers, writers, dancers, musicians, and film producers: MHS PTSA is participating in the National PTA Reflections Contest! Student entries should reflect the theme “Heroes Around Me” and interpret that theme in an original work of art. All entries will be displayed at a showcase at MHS on December 11 from 6-9 PM. Winning entries may be advanced to the County and State level, and may be eligible for prizes at the National level. Entry forms and official contest rules are available on the PTA Facebook page, the front office, or the PTSA website MiddletownHSPTSA.com. Submissions are due to MHS Front office by November 27.
Teacher Appreciation Breakfast In honor of National Parental Involvement Day, Nov 15th during National Teacher Education Week, PTSA is sponsoring a teacher appreciation breakfast. Signup Genius will be provided soon for food and beverage donations.
The Awards Ceremony October 25th was a big hit; this event was co-sponsored by the MHS PTSA.
Support your MHS PTSA by becoming a member or contributing to the Write-A-Check fund. Both of these provide the financial wherewithal for the PTSA to organize and implement a wide range of activities in support of the MHS experience for the students. Additionally, volunteers are always welcome to help at individual events.
