Things to keep in mind:
Visitors: To maintain security, all visitors must enter at the main entrance, sign in at the front office and wear a visitor badge while in the building. Parents needing to pick up students early from school for an appointment will need to do so from the front office.
FCPS's New Visitor Management System: The new system will allow schools to better track school visitors, contractors, and volunteers and provide a safer environment for all students as well as allow administrators to know who is in the building at all times.
Attendance: We encourage students to arrive on time and attend school each day. When a student returns to school, the written excuse note should be dropped off in the front office. Notes should be turned in within two days of an absence.
Safety Drills: This month MHS has already conducted an evacuation drill, a hazardous weather drill, and an extended evacuation drill. We commend our staff and students for their attention and patience during these drills. We will continue to conduct these routine drills and others throughout the year to ensure the safety of our Knight family!
Safe Driving: Students that drive to school are reminded of the following guidelines.
1. Students parking on MHS property must obtain a permit and the permit must be clearly displayed on the vehicle at all times while on campus.
2. Students with outstanding financial obligations and parking fines will not be issued a permit until the debt is paid.
3. Students will practice safe behavior, obey traffic laws and posted speed limits (15 MPH).
4. Students must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and school buses and courteously follow the directives of any teacher or other staff members who are supervising or coordinating activities in the parking areas or campus roadways.
5. Students may park ONLY in those areas designated as student parking areas and painted with yellow lines.
6. All passengers must be transported in a legally approved fashion with seat belts fastened. Students are prohibited from riding in the back of pick-up trucks.
7. Student drivers may not exit from/through the front parking lot until all buses have exited (around 2:25).
MHS still needs volunteers to help in the Copy Room. We need volunteers to make copies of instructional material for the teachers as well as manage the distribution of teacher-printed material. Your help in this area matters greatly to the teachers. Helping with this administrative task frees our teachers so they can spend more working with your students. If you can spare a morning or afternoon or just an hour or two, just one day a week, please email Sandy Mark, Sandra.Marks@fcps.org

SHIP's SleepOver to Benefit Homeless Youth Campaign: All MHS students and families are encouraged to participate in SHIP's SleepOver to Benefit Homeless Youth campaign to build awareness and create critical funds for Frederick County youth experiencing homelessness each year.
