Wednesday, April 12 - Report cards issued to students Friday, April 14 - Friday, April 21 - Schools closed for spring break Friday, April 21 - Community Blood Drive at MHS The MHS Drama Department presents "Damn Yankees" tonight and Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m. - an ASL interpreter will be available at Sunday show. Ticket prices: adults - $12, students and senior citizens - $10. Tickets are available at the door. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. This Sunday, April 9 the MHS Band Boosters will be hosting a special fundraiser-Ford's Drive 4UR School. Our local Ford dealership, the Frederick Motor Company, will bring 6-7 different vehicles to the MHS front parking lot where you can take a test drive in Middletown. For each test drive taken by drivers 18 and over, Ford will donate $20 to the MHS Band Boosters! The event will run from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Spread the word! We hope to see you there! The results are in from the MHS Literary Door Decorating Contest. Congratulations to Mrs. Steger, whose door merged Dr. Seuss's Oh The Places You'll Go with Andy Weir's The Martian--her out of this world design took home first place! Mr. Colsh's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child design took second place. And the media center's Because School Libraries Empower Students took third place. The Middletown FFA chapter will be holding a fundraiser on Monday, April 10 at Roy Rogers on the golden mile from 5-8 p.m. We hope you will attend and support your local FFA chapter! Tuesday, April 11 - 25th Annual MHS Empty Bowls Banquet at 6 p.m. in the Cafeteria. Tickets include: Performance by “The Voice” Paul Pfau, Meal provided by Carrabba’s in Germantown, Ceramic bowl crafted by MHS Ceramic Classes, and Silent Auction. Tickets are $14 Adults, $12 Students (13 thru college) and $7 children (12 and under) and are available now at the MHS Front Office (240-236-7400). For more information contact: james.zimmer@fcps.org A mandatory pre-administration meeting for ALL students taking AP exams is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 12 in the auditorium. Last names A-J should report on April 11 at 10 a.m. All others should report on April 12 at 10 a.m. Students who have CTC or Open Campus must attend on April 12 at 2:30 p.m. in Room 210. Students taking AP exams should turn in their attendance forms as soon as possible to the attendance office. Ag Day is Tuesday, May 2! There is a mandatory AG Day meeting on Wednesday, April 12 from 2:30 - 3:30 for all FFA members who want to bring animals, tractors or be tour guides. Students must attend to participate for the day. Middletown High School will be offering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to all students who are interested in the military on Friday, April 28 at 9:30. Please complete this registration form by Thursday, April 13. Hours should reflect time volunteered from May 1, 2016 until April 30, 2017. Volunteer Hours for the last few days in April 2017 can be estimated. You can email your total number of hours to vicki.grossnickle@fcps.org with a subject of Volunteer Hours or you may turn in your MHS Volunteer Hours Log Sheet to the front office. Please include your name, organization(s) for which you volunteered, for example: PTSA, Drama Boosters, etc. and total number of hours volunteered for each organization. Hours should reflect the time volunteered for Middletown High School ONLY. Please DO NOT submit hours worked at other schools. Baccalaureate Performers Needed: Seniors, please sign-up on the bulletin board if you would like to showcase your talent for Baccalaureate. We are looking for speakers, singers, dancers, musical performances of any type, and especially an emcee. Mandatory rehearsal is May 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium and the Baccalaureate Service is Sunday, May 28 at 7 p.m. This year's theme is acceptance, love and inclusion. Artwork Needed for Baccalaureate Program: Seniors, if you would like to submit a piece of artwork to be showcased in the Baccalaureate Program, please send to mhsbacc2017@gmail.com in jpeg format and include your name. This year's theme is acceptance, love and inclusion. The committee will vote on the most representative piece(s). Please note program will measure 5.5" x 8.5" and print in black and white. Deadline has been extended to April 14. During the month of April, Pre-K-12 students who bring in a report card showing an “A” or a letter grade improvement will receive two FREE tickets to a Keys game.To participate, students can bring their report card to the Nymeo Field box office on the day of the game they wish to attend. This offer is not valid online or over the phone. Middletown High School SGA will be hosting a community blood drive on Friday, April 21 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please help us reach our goal of 35 pints! Horticulture Spring Bedding Plant Sales start on 4/29 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. To be added to our email list, please email sarah.shriner@fcps.org. Students taking online courses should contact Mrs. Bator at least a week in advance when it comes time to schedule proctored tests and exams. Students can email her at pamela.bator@fcps.org or stop by Room 215. Exams are normally proctored on Mondays and Thursdays.

For the first time since the 1970's, College Board will be offering a summer administration of the SAT. The inaugural exam in scheduled for August 26th, 2017 and will recur annually. The January SAT date will be phased out after this past January 2017.
This is a reminder to all 4-year college bound juniors: You should take the SAT's or ACT's twice (one test twice or a combination of both) before you leave for summer break and there are many opportunities to do that from now until next fall and now you can take the SAT's in August!

Congratulations to the FFA spring judging teams! Ag Mechanics placed first in the state and will be competing at the National FFA convention in October. Team members are Josh Runion in 1st place, Jacob Buchanan in 5th place, Luke Grossnickle in 7th place and Isabel Ganley in 14th place. The Milk Quality and Proucts team placed second in the state and will be attending the Eastern States Exposition this fall to compete. Team members were Audrey Harrison in 5th, Justin Arnold, Madison Spurrier and Jessica Duley. Friday, April 28 - MHS Junior and Senior Prom will be held at the Walkersville Social Hall. Prom tickets will be on sale during all lunch shifts beginning Monday, April 24 and ending Thursday, April 27. Pre-ticket sales will be from 8-2 on Friday, April 21 in the front office. Please note that Dance Guideline Forms must be signed and turned in when purchasing tickets and all outstanding obligations must be cleared for students to purchase prom tickets.
