******************************************************************************************************* MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL *******************************************************************************************************
Dear MHS Families, This week is American Education Week and the next week is Thanksgiving. These two celebrations provide us an opportunity to recognize and be thankful for the work and role of our educators and our families. Teaching is both challenging and rewarding. With the exception of parenthood, there is no greater job than nurturing and fostering the growth of our youth as a teacher or coach. We are rewarded by the determination and grit that is evident in our students’ work and their commitment to their learning, all made possible with your continued support and assistance. During this season of American Education Week and the Thanksgiving holiday - I am thankful for our staff, I am thankful for our students, and I am thankful for our community.
Happy American Education Week and Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Bernie Quesada Principal, Middletown High School

Increase In Absenteeism During the past few days, we have experienced an increase of absenteeism. Students were reported absent or sent home due to illness with symptoms such as stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, fever, and/or cold/flu/covid-like symptoms.
We have taken steps to reduce the spread of infection by educating students on proper hand washing and by cleaning desktops, cafeteria tabletops, doorknobs, etc. While we are taking a number of measures to reduce the spread of illness at school, we ask that you and your child apply the same measures at home:
Please contact your healthcare provider if your child exhibits any of the above-listed symptoms. If your child is ill, please keep your child home from school for at least 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting, diarrhea, and/or fever without the use of fever-reducing medication. Thank you for your assistance, and please contact the school if you have any questions at 240-236-7400.
