MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear MHS Families,
January will mark the start of the planning season for the 2022-2023 school year. We will begin sharing this information with families via Find-Out-First and Schoology in the days after we return from winter break. Students and families will be working with our guidance counselors through the month of January to sign up for courses for next school year. Counselors will continue to meet with students and parents, as needed, through the month of January to ensure that they have all of the necessary information to make appropriate decisions regarding course selection. Do not hesitate to reach out to a school counselor or administration anytime if you need any assistance once we start registration.
Next week, we will have regularly scheduled classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. School will not be in session and the office will be closed from December 23rd-January 2nd. We return to classes on Monday, January 3rd. This holiday season, we have heard from so many parents, former students, and community members that are thankful for the roles our teachers and coaches have played in their lives. It is especially important to remember at this time of the year that often the best gift we can give is a kind word, as it is always appreciated. I wish you all a peaceful winter break and Happy Holidays to you and your families. Thank you for your continued support of Middletown High School.
Bernie Quesada Principal, Middletown High School

December Awareness Topic: International Day Of Persons With Disabilities (IDPD)
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated every year on December 3. The day is about promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
This year, the theme is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.” Where marginalization, discrimination, vulnerability and exploitation are every day factors for many people, the increased risk of poor outcomes have been magnified with the reduced access to routine health care and rehabilitation services, more pronounced social isolation, poorly tailored public health messaging, inadequately constructed mental health services, and a lack of emergency preparedness for people with special needs.

The MHS Yearbook: Photo Request Deadline: Friday, January 7 The yearbook wants to include photos of you doing the things you enjoy on your own time, from spending time with family or a close group of friends, to participating in outdoor activities like hiking or fishing, to working at a job or volunteering in the community. But the staff can't be everywhere all the time, so it is asking for your help in collecting photographs.
If you have photos of MHS students taken during this school year and you want them in the yearbook, submit them by email to the yearbook adviser, Noah Kady, at noah.kady@fcps.org. Please identify the people in the photo and provide any other relevant information. The yearbook staff will determine where in the yearbook the photos can best be used and efforts will be made to include as many of the submissions as possible.
The deadline for submitting photos is Friday, January 7.

Attention Senior Parents: Senior Yearbook Ad Deadline Monday, December 20 Monday, December 20, is the deadline for purchasing a senior ad in the yearbook. Leave a special word of encouragement or share a memory with your graduating senior. Students love the photos you pick (especially the ones of them as babies, which we will use in the yearbook's fun "beautiful baby" collage and contest) and the notes you leave for them. You don't want your senior to miss out!
"I see it happen every year. The first thing seniors turn to when they get their yearbook is the message and photos that their parents have submitted for them. You get a lot of smiles and a lot of happy tears, too. It's a really special moment for most of these seniors." - Noah Kady, Yearbook Adviser
Parents can go directly to the website at Jostensyearbook.com to place an order. Under the "Yearbooks" tab, go to "Order Your Yearbook Ad" and pick "Order a Student Ad". You can design your ad right there on the site or simply submit the photos and have a Jostens representative do it for you.
Contact Mr. Kady at noah.kady@fcps.org with any questions.
