Message From The Principal
Hello MHS Families,
We have had a great start to the first term and look forward to a year of growth for every student. While we are excited that Fall is right around the corner, our goal is to focus all of our energy on the teaching and learning process in the classroom, providing each student with the most challenging opportunities to learn and grow. This is a vital time for students as they prepare to graduate and work to finish their classes. Keep in mind that passing all your current classes is essential to staying on track for graduation and to be eligible for sports and clubs. I strongly encourage you to contact your child’s teachers and guidance counselor regarding any questions that you may have concerning the progress your child is making. If your child is having difficulties in a particular class, encourage the student to talk to his or her teacher. We have many opportunities for tutoring (see link here: MHS Tutoring Opportunities). We understand that building for the future is team work.
We continue to look forward to working with you and your children as we progress though this very exciting time in their lives.
Best, Bernie Quesada Principal, Middletown High School

Maryland Seal of Biliteracy
Does your child use a language besides English at home? MHS, FCPS, and the state of Maryland would like to honor and celebrate that! The Maryland State Seal of Biliteracy is an award that recognizes a student's high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English and one or more other languages. These languages DO NOT need to be taught in school, so if you speak another language at home, you may be eligible. Maryland is one of more than 45 states that now offer the designation, and it conveys to colleges and employers that your child has a skill few others possess! Please see or email Ms. Stutzman (marcia.stutzman@fcps.org) for information on the award.
