INFORMATION FOR SENIORS
SENIORS: Get a Head Start on your College Application Essay! RISING Seniors – Do you want to get a head start on your college applications? A good place to start is the essay. Here’s a link to the Common Application essay prompts. The Common Application will allow you to apply to multiple colleges at once. You’ll only need to write one from these selections. Choose your favorite and start writing!
Common Application Essay Prompts
Transcripts (seniors/class of 2022): MHS will not send any senior transcripts for college applications until at least September 1. The initial transcripts will be sent when schedule changes are complete and GPA and rank calculations can be verified.
All seniors will be trained on how to request transcripts and recommendations for electronic delivery through Naviance when the school year starts.
College Applications: Seniors applying to 4-year colleges should begin working on applications once they open. Take note of deadlines and what each school needs by that deadline. Remember that SAT and ACT score reports will need to be ordered from the testing services on their websites.
Recommendations: Seniors applying to 4-year colleges in need of letters of recommendation should identify the counselor and teachers that they will ask for them. Recommenders SHOULD NOT be added to the Common App, because Naviance will link them later. Prior to contacting those recommenders, students should complete the “Recommendation Brag Sheet” in Naviance Family Connection. That is found in the “About Me” tab in the top left under “Surveys to take.” Upon completion, students can email the teacher(s) and counselor identified and let them know that they will receive a future request for a recommendation in Naviance, but the responses to the brag sheet are now available to the staff members in Naviance if they would like to write their letter now for uploading and sending later.
SENIORS: STUDENTS AND PARENTS OF CLASS OF 2022 Please Join Class of 2022 Schoology Group Seniors and their parents/guardians: Please join the Schoology group for the class of 2022. The code to use is TFZP-6WGB-4HNPJ. This group will be used to communicate information about senior events next year with the exception of prom, yearbook and counseling.

All students are entitled to have their yearbook photo taken regardless of whether they are ordering portraits from Lifetouch. Students should let Lifetouch know IF they are only getting a single photo for yearbook purposes, which does not require a sitting fee.

MHS YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION Wednesday, July 28, 3 PM - 7 PM Middletown High School yearbooks for the 2020-2021 school year will be distributed on Wednesday, July 28, at the back cafeteria doors, from 3 PM to 7 PM. The yearbook is being distributed during the summer because in-person school events were not held until the second semester, which caused a delay in gathering content for the book and in getting it printed. Students who are unable to pick up their book at the designated time may have someone else pick it up for them, but that person must have an ID and sign for the book. Middletown High School yearbooks will be distributed on Wednesday, July 28, at the back cafeteria doors, from 3 PM to 7 PM. Any books not picked up on July 28 may be picked up in the front office on Thursday, July 29 from 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Students that are unable to pick up on July 28 or July 29 should call the front office at 240-236-7400 to schedule a pick up time.
