Attention Students with FCPS Chromebooks SIGN OUT, POWER DOWN and RESTART! Many of the Chromebooks assigned to students are not getting important updates because students close the lid and do not sign out. It is a good practice to sign out and restart at least once a week during the school year to get the latest updates and keep your Chromebook in good working order. Chromebooks update automatically when they are restarted as long as they have a Wi-Fi connection. Please take time to allow your Chromebook to update today and also again before the start of the new school year. If you are having issues with your Chromebook, please email maria.sgrignoli@fcps.org.
Chromebook Returns/Repairs Students returning to MHS next year will be keeping their Chromebooks over the summer. If you have a Chromebook that is not working properly, such as issues with keys, camera, or microphone, please email maria.sgrignoli@fcps.org as soon as possible to troubleshoot the problem and exchange the Chromebook if necessary.
Frederick County Trout in the Classroom (TIC) Release Daubs Meadow Park, May 10
May 10th dawned with perfect weather for the Frederick County Trout in the Classroom (TIC) releases. Twenty-five students from both Middletown High (MHS) and Wolfsville Elementary (WES) participated in a number of activities at Doubs Meadow Park to celebrate raising rainbow trout from eggs beginning in December. Besides releasing the trout into little Catoctin Creek, volunteers assisted students collect and identify macroinvertebrates from the stream, participate in a Scavenger Hunt and practice fly casting with a fly rod.
Both Sharon Steger from MHS and Becky Butler from WES are veterans of the TIC program. Ed Marfut, a retired science teacher from WES who ran the program for many years at the school returned to help. Other volunteers included Elizabeth Farber, MHS senior, Gladys Smith, who is our “stork” and delivers the trout eggs, members of Potomac Valley Fly Fishers, the owners of ThorpeWood in Thurmont MD, Eddie Main who ran the Frederick County Outdoor School for many years, Bethany Dellagnello, a retired science teacher from FCPS and the Alice Ferguson Foundation, Elissa Wasserman, Science Instructional Assistant, John Zink, retired Middletown Middle science teacher, and Janet Ady who has retired from the Department of the Interior.
Also a big thank you to all of the students and parents that participated as well as the photographers, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dutrow and Kyle Raines.

MHS Yearbook Distribution Wednesday, July 28, 3 PM - 7 PM Middletown High School yearbooks will be distributed on Wednesday, July 28, at the back cafeteria doors, from 3 PM to 7 PM. The yearbook is being distributed during the summer because in-person school events were not held until the second semester, which caused a delay in gathering content for the book and in getting it printed. Students who are unable to pick up their book at the designated time may have someone else pick it up for them, but that person must have an ID and sign for the book. Middletown High School yearbooks will be distributed on Wednesday, July 28, at the back cafeteria doors, from 3 PM to 7 PM. Any books not picked up on July 28 may be picked up in the front office on Thursday, July 29 from 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Students that are unable to pick up on July 28 or July 29 should call the front office at 240-236-7400 to schedule a pick up time.
