Enter information as completely as possible. Enter special instructions in the note section, (for example, "Please email transcript to (insert email address)" or "Please include counselor recommendation form"). There will be a $2.00 fee (cash or check payable to MHS) per official transcript prepared, payable when the transcript is picked up. You will be notified when it is ready. Please allow 5 business days for a transcript request.
MARYLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP The Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship offers students up to $5,000 annually to attend a Maryland community college. The Maryland Higher Education Commission’s (MHEC) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) administers the scholarship.
As of July 1, 2020, the service obligation and the age requirement have been eliminated to offer more Maryland students the opportunity to be eligible for up to $5,000 annually to attend a Maryland community college for the 2021-2022 academic year.
IMPORTANT: In order to qualify for the MD Promise Scholarship you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1, 2021.

SPRING SEMESTER: NEW WEEKLY PLANNER AND ASSIGNMENT DUE DATES MHS teachers will continue to post weekly planners in Schoology; however, the format of the planner has changed to accommodate the new schedule. The new planner will be posted by the Monday of every week and map out a traditional M-F school week. Assignment due dates may be any day of the week. Teachers will indicate the day an assignment needs to be submitted. All assignments need to be submitted by 11:59PM of the indicated due date.
VIRTUAL FCC NIGHT FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Wed, February 3, 6:00- 7:30 pm This event is for students interested in learning about some of the many educational opportunities at FCC. Sign up to learn about Admissions and Enrollment Steps, Counseling & Advising, and Financial Aid. Academic Break-out Sessions provide opportunities to hear directly from faculty. SPRING SEMESTER BOOKS AND MATERIALS DISTRIBUTION Thursday, February 4 From 12:30 - 6 PM Next Thursday, February 4 from 12:30-6:00, we are planning a material distribution for students who need books for Spring Semester classes. Not every teacher will require students to have a book this semester, or so please make sure to check with the teacher if the book is needed for a specific class. Look for a Find Out First Early next week as a reminder.
FCC DUAL ENROLLMENT VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE Thursday, February 4, 7:00 PM Attend the last virtual FCC Dual Enrollment Open House event via Google Meet to learn about all of the FCC Dual Enrollment opportunities for FCPS students:
High School Based, Open Campus, Career Pathways, and Early College.
Dual Enrollment courses allow you to earn college credits or industry credentials and a high school diploma simultaneously at a fraction of the normal cost. Your goals determine which option is best for you. Representatives from both FCC and FCPS will explain the benefits and requirements for each program

CAREER & TECHNOLOGY CENTER VIRTUAL SHADOWING IS NOW OPEN! Now through Friday, February 26 FCPS students in grades 9, 10 & 11 interested in learning more and/or applying to a program at the Career & Technology Center for the 2021-2022 school year can now sign up for a virtual shadow experience.
Students interested in shadowing and applying to a program at the FCPS Career & Technology Center will need to log in with their FCPS Student User ID & Password to access the Shadow Request Form and/or the Online Application.
FCPS Student User IDs start with the student's birth year, followed by their first initial and last name (ex. 01WSmith). Students do not need to include my.fcps.org after their User ID. Passwords are unique to each student.
Students will receive a confirmation email when submitting a Shadow Request or CTC Application at their my.fcps.org email account

Applications without a signature will not be processed and the form will be returned to the parent for a signature. The deadline to apply for Out of District status is Monday, March 1, 2021.

MHS EXTENDED LEARNING OPPORTUNITY (ELO) TUTORING Directions: Click the calendar link, below, for the ELO course and select the date and time that you would like to meet with a teacher. All ELO tutoring sessions are conducted via Google Meet. A link will be provided with sign-up confirmation.

SUPPORT SERVICES: Students and family members who are experiencing difficulty may wish to contact the Frederick County Mental Health Association (MHA).
Walk-In Behavioral Health Services The Walk-in Service has resumed seeing clients in person at their office located at 226 South Jefferson Street in Frederick for those who prefer to see someone face to face. They are also continuing to offer their Virtual Walk-In platform for those who feel more comfortable with that. The MHA's call center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From intervention, a caring and supporting voice at a moment of crisis, to connecting to resources and information, dial 211.

The Free HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Back to School College Fairs - July 2020 through March 2021 Students who are interested in attending an HBCU should consider filling out the Common Black College Application (CBCA), which for a limited time is only $20 to apply to 55 colleges and universities. SELECTIVE SERVICE REGISTRATION This is a reminder that all males are required by law to register for the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Preregistration can be done at 17 years, 3 months and the registration held until the 18th birthday. Failure to register can create future issues: the inability to receive federally funded college loans and grants, to obtain federally funded training and certification programs and federal employment.
