Cap, Gown, & Tassel Orders All seniors interested in participating in the graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 2, at 2 PM, Knott Arena at Mount St. Mary's University, must have a cap, gown and tassel. If you missed the deadline, please place your order immediately at www.balfour.com. Orders will be shipped in bulk to the school around mid-April.
Mandatory Senior Class Meeting, Wednesday, March 11 Mandatory senior class meeting with be Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 9-11am in the auditorium. If you are off-campus, please make arrangements with work or FCC professors to attend this meeting. We will be distributing important graduation information as well as take our "20" class picture and begin our spring fundraiser. AM CTC students buses will be held until end of the meeting

Enter information as completely as possible. Enter special instructions in the note section, (for example, "Please email transcript to (insert email address)" or "Please include counselor recommendation form"). There will be a $2.00 fee (cash or check payable to MHS) per official transcript prepared, payable when the transcript is picked up. You will be notified when it is ready. Please allow 5 business days for a transcript request.

Any interested student should use their Naviance Account (see link above) to sign up for these and other visits and determine the location of the visit. All sign-ups close 24 hours prior to the visit time. Please see Mrs. Bertulaitis in Counseling if you have questions.
Community Foundation Scholarship Applications The Community Foundation of Frederick County’s 2020-2021 scholarship application will be open from Sunday, March 1 through 11:59 PM on Tuesday, March 31. Students who will graduate this May and are planning to attend college or those students currently enrolled and attending college should apply. Scholarships are available for all areas of study. CTC: Career and Technology Center Application Deadline Friday, March 6 Students who have shadowed a CTC program and wish to apply to attend next school year must turn in completed applications by Friday, March 6. An online application may be completed here: Online CTC Application
Frederick Community College Spring Open House and Career Exploration Workshop FCC Student Center Saturday, March 21 10 AM - 12 PM Guests will be able to walk around a table fair and interact with faculty and staff. Campus tours will be available, led by current FCC students.
There will also be a Career Exploration Workshop at 10:30 am put on by Career Services that guests are able to attend. The workshop will answer questions like:
• Thinking about attending college, but not sure what to study? • Know what major you want to pursue, but not sure what you can do with it? • Decided on a career, but need more information about the outlook and job market?

Guest Speaker: Ms. Bonnie Walter, Frederick Memorial Hospital Monday, March 23 There will be a guest speaker on Monday, March 23 during Knights Quest (10:30-11:00) in the Media Center. Ms. Bonnie Walters, Volunteer Coordinator at Frederick Memorial Hospital, will discuss how to become a hospital volunteer. This is geared towards 9th and 10th grade students. Free SAT Test Administration for all MHS Juniors Wednesday, March 25 Middletown High School, 7:30 AM Wednesday, March 25 is School Day SAT for all current 11th graders. Juniors will take the SAT (without essay) free of charge during the regular school day. The exam will serve as the students’ College and Career Assessment. Eligible students are automatically registered for the exam, so there is no sign up process. As the test day approaches, students will be informed about test day procedures, assigned testing room location, and materials to bring. Frederick County Teen Coalition Teen Job Fair Saturday, March 28 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Tuscarora Rec Center This is a FREE event! There will be employment opportunities for part-time, seasonal, or temporary jobs for local teens, ages 14 to 18 years old. In addition to talking to employers, teens will have the opportunity to attend workshops on job readiness, soft skills, resume tips and interview skills. Maryland Agricultural, Green Industry Career & College Fair (MAGICC) Frederick Fairgrounds on April 1st 8:30-1:30 PM Deadline for sign up is March 25, 2020.

Who: Open to all high school students and families What: FREE 1-day event where businesses & colleges related to the agricultural, green & CTE industries will be present with hands on activities, workshops, on the spot interviews and more. Where: The Great Frederick Fairgrounds When: April 1, 8:30 AM -1:30 PM for students, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM general public Why: To offer career exploration, post-graduation planning, college & employment opportunities and possible summer employment positions to students How: Transportation provided by FCPS school bus (1 complimentary bus provided per high school) to and from the Fairgrounds for both a morning and/or afternoon session at the fair. FCC Accuplacer Tests for English and Math Thursday, April 2 at Middletown HS Students who are interested in taking Dual Enrollment Classes during the 2020-2021 school year may need to take the FCC Accuplacer test. These tests will be given at Middletown High School on April 2. Further information to follow.
Biliteracy Award Applications Due Friday, April 17 Did you realize students who speak and write more than one language can be awarded the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy? The Seal sets the student apart for colleges and employers as people who can truly contribute as Global Citizens. The additional language (besides English) can be ANY language that the student knows through home and family use, previous places where s/he has lived, as a school-learned language, or has learned in any other way! Students can earn the award at any time in grades 10 -12. See Ms. Stutzman (Marcia.stutzman@fcps.org) to learn what is required to show proficiency in the second language. US Naval Academy Admissions Program Thursday, April 23, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Are you interested in going to the US Naval Academy? Plan to attend a USNA Admissions Program to learn about the admissions process for the U.S. Naval Academy, meet the Dean of Admissions, and talk with USNA Admissions staff & representatives. Johns Hopkins University Biomedical Engineering Innovation Online Course Developed by Johns Hopkins faculty, Biomedical Engineering Innovation (BMEI) introduces biomedical engineering to high school students by modeling biological systems, designing experiments to test those models, and introducing engineering principles to solve design problems that are biological, physiological, and/or medical. Students will model human efficiency, the arm, and the cardiovascular system. Students are expected to apply their knowledge of math, physics and biology to solve practical problems encountered in biomedical engineering. Students Who Are Interested in the Military: US Naval Sea Cadets Program, Frederick Chapter Mathew Fontaine Maury Pathfinders Division The US Naval Sea Cadets are non-profit youth program geared towards teaching today's youth about the opportunities that the US Armed Forces provide WITHOUT any service obligation. Meetings are held one weekend a month at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Building in Frederick, MD. Meeting are held both Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, along with other community activities throughout the year.
If you are a student, or the parent of a student, who is interested in learning more about the program or even the Armed Forces, there will be an open house briefing on March 14, 2020 at 1 pm at the VFW at 5901 Old National Pike, Frederick MD 21702. Any students or young adults from the ages of 10 years old to 17 years old are invited to attend this meeting to learn more about the US Naval Sea Cadets. Parents are welcome to come along as well to learn more. The Sea Cadets also accepts applications for adult leaders as well who want to help in providing opportunities to our community for tomorrow's leaders.

Selective Service Registration This is a reminder that all males are required by law to register for the Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Preregistration can be done at 17 years, 3 months and the registration held until the 18th birthday. Failure to register can create future issues: the inability to receive federally funded college loans and grants, to obtain federally funded training and certification programs and federal employment.
