INFORMATION FOR SENIORS
Baccalaureate Ceremony: The PTSA is looking for parents of seniors and juniors to help with the 2020 Senior Baccalaureate to be scheduled in May 2020; planning starts soon. This time-honored tradition is a student-led community program for MHS seniors to celebrate their upcoming graduation by hearing inspirational speakers, enjoying the talents of fellow seniors, and reflecting on their life journey to graduation. We are the only school in the county that hosts a Baccalaureate. It is always well-received by parents and students alike, and although this is a ceremony for seniors, interested parents of juniors are encouraged to assist in order to gain experience and insight for their future senior's baccalaureate. If you are interested in helping the PTSA and MHS seniors plan this year’s Baccalaureate, please email the PTSA Bacc committee: mhsptsbacc@gmail.com. An informational meeting will be forthcoming next month.
Seniors: As you hear back on your college applications, please remember to go in and update the status of the applications in your Naviance account!

CTC: Career and Technology Center Shadowing
The Career and Technology Center is a part of the Frederick County Public School system. CTC programs are available in a variety of areas ranging from the traditional vocational areas to 4-year college preparatory programs. Students can earn college credits and certifications as well as industry certifications and licenses. Programs are taught in half-day blocks and students attend MHS for the other half of the day.
Shadowing a program is the first step in the process and is open to students in grades 9-11, except for Cosmetology, which only 10th grade students may shadow. Students need to see Mrs. Bertulaitis in the Counseling Office to sign up for shadowing, and can do that now. The time frame for shadowing continues through Thursday, February 27. A student may shadow up to two programs. Once we have an appointment for the student, he/she will be given a permission slip which must be signed and returned to Mrs. Bertulaitis.
