2019 MHS FFA Citrus And Nuts Sale Orders Due: Monday, November 18 The Citrus Sale is FFA's biggest fundraiser of the year. Please consider supporting FFA!! All citrus is grown through the Florida Farm Bureau and the apples are local from Catoctin Mountain Orchard. In addition, the sale includes pears, pineapples, nuts and turkey. FCPS Youth Apprentice Summit Applications Due Monday, November 25 It's simple to apply for a Youth Apprentice position! It is open to all FCPS juniors and seniors. Space is limited. If you are interested, apply as soon as possible. Participating students may work during the summer after their junior year and during their senior year in a state-approved industry. Participating students work with a mentor to learn valuable skills and earn industry credentials and high school credit. Student apprentices are provided paid compensation through “earn and learn” opportunities. Students also receive training in employability skills, interpersonal/social skills and general knowledge of the world of work. College Night for Juniors Wednesday, December 4 Juniors and parents are invited to the MHS College Night on Wednesday, December 4 at 6:00 PM in the auditorium. Counselors will be presenting information about: * Graduation Requirements * Options for Senior Year and * Navigating the College Process Additionally, Rebecca Mason, College Entrance Exam Instructor, will present information about the ACT and SAT. We hope you can join us! Great American Smokeout Thursday, November 21 MHS is recognizing The Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 21. Students are encouraged to pledge to be smoke free, pledge to quit smoking, or pledge to support someone who is trying to quit. Students are also invited to attend an assembly during Knights Quest to learn more about the health concerns of vaping/Juuling and resources available to support individuals who want to quit.
Congratulations MHS Girls Cross Country Team MHS Girls Cross Country team finished the season 2nd in the 2A State Championships. In addition, Erin McQuitty won the 2A Girls Cross Country Individual title. Congratulations, girls!!
Key Club Senior Homecoming Dance Thank You, Key Club Members!
On Saturday, November 9, nineteen Key Club Members organized a senior Homecoming Dance at Tranquility Assisted Living in Frederick. It was an Ancient Greece theme, and the residents looked amazing in their Greek attire. The afternoon was filled with dancing to oldies-but-goodies, laughter, smiles and new friendships. Thank you to all Key Clubbers who made this very special afternoon possible.
Winter Dance Team Auditions Tuesday, November 19 Auditions for the Winter Dance Team will take place on Tuesday, November 19 at 2:30 PM in the auditorium. Interested dancers should arrive prepared to perform a ballet and jazz combination.

Attention: Female Juniors Scholarship Opportunity: Distinguished Young Women of Frederick County Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments. Distinguished Young Women strives to give every young woman the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future. Over $20,000 in cash scholarships will be awarded and over 200 colleges offer scholarships for participation. Application deadline is Wednesday, January 1. MHS Paint Night Fundraiser Sunday, November 24 Join us as we help to raise money for the girl's basketball team. This event is fun for all ages. You can choose to do canvas pumpkins or wooden decor for the home (with over 125 different choices at the event). The cost is $40 per painter and the location is MHS. Become A Member! Please remember to support your MHS PTSA by becoming a member or contributing to the Write-A-Check fund. Becoming a member doesn't commit you to volunteer, but it gives you a vote and a voice in advocating for improvements for our school and Frederick County teachers! Both the membership and the Write-a-Check fundraiser provide the financial wherewithal for the PTSA to organize and implement a wide range of activities in support of the MHS experience for the students. In addition, volunteers are always welcome to help at individual events.
