News from Principal Shirley Olsen
I want to thank every student, every family and every staff member for a wonderful three years as I end my tenure at Orchard Grove Elementary. As of July 1, 2019, I will be retiring from FCPS after more than 29 years with the system; I will miss all of you but cherish the time I had at OGES. However, I want to assure you that OGES is in excellent hands; Mr. Jay Corrigan will be the new principal and he is thrilled to come serve all of you. There is a link below with a letter from Mr. Corrigan. Our teachers and staff have done amazing work this year and our students have made good gain in heart, brain and body power. Keep reading this summer, have your child practice math facts and look for challenges for the family to be learning. It will help your children be ready when September rolls around.

NEWS FROM THE PTA
Help is needed with the School Store next year.
Did you know that the OGES PTA operates the School Store? The School Store is open every morning from 8:30-8:50 and we are in need of volunteers next year to work a shift. Whether you can volunteer to work a weekly shift or maybe a shift every 2 weeks, any help would be appreciated. Please send an email to orchardgrovepta@gmail.com with what day(s) you're available to help.
The OGES PTA needs YOUR help next year!
Did you know that FCPS is projecting a student enrollment of over 600 children at OGES next year? By joining the OGES PTA in September, you will be helping to fund field trips, assemblies (such as the Laser Show), and family activities (such as Family Movie Nights, Trunk-or-Treat, Dads & Donuts, and Moms & Muffins). You will also help to fund a daily Dolphin folder for each child, Time Trackers for the 2nd – 5th graders, and teacher/staff appreciation events for the school staff.
Without volunteers helping the PTA, these programs and events simply cannot take place. We need your help. It’s a simple as that. Please go to this link and look over the list of where help is needed for next year: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4aadab2aa0f49-20182019
Many of these events occur only once a year so a large time commitment on your end will not be required. If you have any questions, please email the PTA at orchardgrovepta@gmail.com.
Thanks for a great 2018-2019 school year! We’ll see you in September!
