News from the Office
Greetings!
Yesterday, the 470 members of our senior class graduated in a very celebratory ceremony! We’re proud of these seniors and know they will soar to greatness in the years ahead.
I appreciate all the faculty and staff, especially our Senior Class Advisors, Ms. Ann Beachley and Mr. Chuck Grover, who made our return to Mt. St. Mary’s University the success that it was. Last night, many of our seniors attended the Safe and Sane party, which was also a fantastic event. We appreciate the parents who have dedicated months to planning this important event for our seniors. We’ve heard that fun was had by all who attended!
For parents of underclassmen, please note the Chromebook Collection dates noted above; if you can help ensure that your child returns their Chromebook, charger and case, we can have an efficient collection of these materials next week. Our students’ last day of school is Tuesday, June 8. Unlike previous years, this is not an exam make-up day.
Best wishes for a safe Memorial Day weekend,
Dave Kehne, Principal

Parents/Guardians: The last day of school is Tuesday, June 7.
According to FCPS Regulation 400-23 students are not permitted to take their medications home at the end of the school year. A parent/guardian must pick up all medications in the health room by the end of the school day on June 7. To arrange for pick-up please contact School Health staff directly at (240) 236-7614.
Non-emergency medication and expired medication of any kind remaining in the health room will be destroyed on: June 7, 2022 at the end of the school day unless alternate arrangements have been made directly with School Health staff.
If your student will be attending a summer program at their current school of enrollment and if medication must be administered during summer school hours, contact the health room for additional guidance.
PREPARING FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR
Medication/Treatment Orders from your Healthcare Provider
The medication/treatment authorization form(s) specific to your child's health/medication needs must be renewed at the beginning of each school year. Forms are available online at http://www.fcps.org or at your child's school.
Maryland regulation dictates that we determine expiration dates as follows: (1) one year from the dispensing date on the pharmacy label or, (2) the expiration date on the medication package, whichever comes first.
To ensure your child's medication/treatment needs are met at the start of the school year submit medications/supplies, and completed forms to the health room on or after Thursday, August 11, 2022. Please contact the health room in advance to ensure availability of School Health staff.
School health staff will review physician orders/medications. It is the parent/guardian responsibility to ensure that medications/orders are compliant with state regulation. Please do not send your child to school with medications. Per FCPS Reg 400-23, it is the parent/guardian responsibility to deliver physician orders/medications directly to School Health staff.
Thank you for your cooperation, Jen Perry, RN
Mental Health Matters Mile Challenge Miles are due on Tuesday, May 31, by the end of the school day. Top 3 winners get a prize!
Thanks to everyone for your support and participation in coming together to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month.
