In-School SAT for Seniors
Arrival Times
News from the Office
Greetings:
Two weeks remain in the first term marking period. We encourage students to be as attentive as they can be during every class. Students needing academic assistance are encouraged to contact their teachers and to take advantage of our virtual tutoring center. Details about the tutoring center are in this newsletter.
It will be good to see many of our seniors, even with masks and social distancing, for the SAT this coming Tuesday. Although our students are always well versed in testing protocols, I encourage parents and students to check out the linked information just below this message.
This week our PTSA held their election of officers. The PTSA supports our academic mission and many extra- and co-curricular activities. Please read about their work in this issue of Hawk News and consider joining this wonderful group. A link to join is provided.
Enjoy the weekend.
Dave Kehne, Principal
As a reminder: SAT will be given this Tuesday, October 27 to all students who registered for it. Please refer to the following documents for more information:

Safety Guidelines
Please reach out to Mr. Chary (Chaitanya.Chary@fcps.org) with any SAT-related questions, comments or concerns.
Urbana Schools are teaming up to collect food items for the Greater Urbana Food Bank. Collection of items will begin Monday, October 26, and will continue through Friday, November 6. Please provide donations of items in grocery bags. Donations can be dropped off weekdays at the main entrance of any of these schools: Centerville ES, Urbana ES, Sugarloaf ES, Urbana MS, Urbana HS.
For those who might be wondering "didn't UHS just have a food drive," we did have a very successful food drive during our Spirit Week. We're participating in this upcoming drive as a part of the Urbana "family" of schools and we're glad to do so.
See the flyer for specific items of need: Fall Harvest Food Collection
The Student Information Card traditionally sent home with students on the first day of school was moved online this year as the Returning Student Registration Form.
This year's form arrived via email from PowerSchool, with a weekly reminder email sent to parents who have not yet completed the form. All parents of returning students should complete the Returning Student Registration Form. When completed, school registrars update student, parent and emergency contact information. This, in turn, updates the parent's Find Out First email address.
Parents who have not received the email from PowerSchool with the link to update student information for this school year should contact AnnMarie.Kline@fcps.org as soon as possible.

The City of Frederick Youth Advisory Council (YAC) advises City officials and staff on policies, programs, and issues relating to youth in the community. To continue its work, the YAC is soliciting feedback from youth/teens living in the City of Frederick regarding future projects, advocacy work, and more through a quick survey. The survey will remain open until Friday, October 30, 2020.
"Although COVID19 has halted many of our plans, over the past year we have created and distributed a survey to teenagers, been involved with the Golden Mile Alliance, started to create a student discount for high schoolers, and more. The Council makes recommendations regarding youth involvement, document translations, and voting concerns. Now we need your help! What's important to you? What would you like to see changed?" shared the YAC.
