Spirit Week Decorations Needed
As we prepare for this week of HAWK PRIDE, we are calling for donations to decorate the fence line along Campus Drive. There will be a drop off box in the main office vestibule from 8 am - 4 pm next week, October 5 - October 9. Donations can include blue and silver solo cups, decorated posters, old pom poms, and other items used to celebrate Urbana Spirit Week.
More specific information will be provided early next week regarding Urbana Spirit week.
Interims
Today is mid-term for term 1. We request that parents review their child's interim grade at some point between today and Friday, October 9. We will mail a copy of interim grades to parents/guardians of students who are earning a D or F on the date that teachers finalize their interim grades. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions or concerns.
If your student is enrolled in a course offered through the Dual Enrollment program with Frederick Community College (FCC), or is currently taking a course offered through the Frederick County Virtual School (FCVS), interim grades are not issued for these programs and you are strongly encouraged to check your child's progress.
Report Cards
Term 1 ends on Friday, November 6. FCPS will mail report cards home on the term 1 distribution date, Thursday, November 19.

ATTENTION AP STUDENTS and PARENTS: Urbana High School's AP Exam Registration is Open!
Taking the Advanced Placement (AP) exams is an important part of all AP courses. Urbana High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.
Exam Registration
UHS is excited to offer families the ability to pay their exam fees online at the time of registration, so please be sure to have a credit or debit card available before beginning registration. ATTENTION! Students and guardians should complete the registration/enrollment together. This is a two-step process and both steps MUST be completed to access the AP Classroom resources and/or order AP Exams. The entire process (both steps) can be completed in a single sitting in approximately 10 minutes.
Complete the registration process. Your confirmation page indicates that the first step has been completed. The confirmation page will include the information needed to complete the second step of enrolling courses/exams in the College Board's MyAP system. To register for your AP exams, please visit https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/210671.
Enroll all your AP courses and exams in the College Board's MyAP system at apstudents.collegeboard.org with the Join Codes you will receive at the end of the registration process. This step should be completed right away as exams will only be ordered if both steps are completed and all exam fees have been paid by February 28, 2021.
Fees
COST: $95 per exam
LATE FEE: Students planning on taking AP exams for their First Semester, Year-Long, and Exam Only (No Teacher) courses must purchase exams by October 31, 2020 to avoid an additional $40 late fee added to each exam beginning at 12 am, November 1, 2020.
Deadlines
* First Semester / Year-Long / Exam Only AP Courses: Students planning on taking AP exams for these courses must enroll/register by October 31, 2020. Payment is also due at this time to avoid a $40 late fee (per exam) beginning November 1.
* 2nd Semester AP Courses: Students planning on taking AP exams for these courses must enroll/register by February 22, 2021. Payment is also due at this time.
* Exam registrations that are not fully paid for by 11:59 pm, February 28, 2021, will be canceled and exams will not be ordered.

The City of Frederick Youth Advisory Council (YAC) advises City officials and staff on policies, programs, and issues relating to youth in the community. To continue its work, the YAC is soliciting feedback from youth/teens living in the City of Frederick regarding future projects, advocacy work, and more through a quick survey. The survey will remain open until Friday, October 30, 2020.
"Although COVID19 has halted many of our plans, over the past year we have created and distributed a survey to teenagers, been involved with the Golden Mile Alliance, started to create a student discount for high schoolers, and more. The Council makes recommendations regarding youth involvement, document translations, and voting concerns. Now we need your help! What's important to you? What would you like to see changed?" shared the YAC.
Youth/Teens: If you live in the City of Frederick, please provide your feedback here.

UHS GREEN TEAM Weekly Tip #5: Want to Save the Bay but not sure how you can help?
Educate yourself and others on how pollution impacts the Chesapeake Bay!! When water rushes downhill through neighborhood watersheds, it picks up pollutants like motor oil from the pavement. The rapidly moving water also erodes riverbanks and deposits fertilizers and sediment into the bay. This water damages the bay's aquatic ecosystems and leads to eutrophication and dead zones. There are ways you can help! Visit www.cbf.org/issues/polluted-runoff/ to learn more!
