PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
June 14, 2019
I will include more specifics in a separate Find Out First, but today is officially my last day as Principal of OHS. The last three years have gone by very fast and have been filled with many great memories. The new Principal has yet to be named, so stay tuned during the month of June to the FCPS web site and FOF for the official announcement. Next year will be the 10th Anniversary of OHS—and staff is already planning some events to celebrate that important milestone. I wish the Oakdale community continued success!

All Underclassmen Chromebooks & Library Books Due Back by Tuesday 6/18
All Chromebooks and library books are due back in the library no later than the end of the day Tuesday, June 18.
Underclassmen with items out will receive "Items Out" lists from their first block teachers on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Students should return items to the library between classes, at lunch, during SET, and after school until 2:30 PM. Chromebooks should be returned AFTER they are no longer required in the classroom; students should check with individual teachers to make this determination. Please check with your student to ensure they return a complete set: Chromebook, charger (with two cords attached--be sure it is the CORRECT charger and not for another device model), and case. For your convenience, we will provide a cleaning station in the library so your student can tidy up their device before returning it. Lastly, students who return devices with damaged or missing parts will be charged accordingly.
Questions? Please contact the library at 240-566-9690. Don’t forget to check out the links for summer reading that are shared in the Weekly Bear News below!
Library News: Summer 2019 Reading Books, Lists & Activities for ALL Ages!
Summer provides a lot of opportunities for kids (and grownups) to read or listen to books and OHS, FCPS, and Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL), among others, have some terrific reading resources for kids to peruse. Please encourage your child to use these digital books, lists, and activities all summer long:

visit the OHS Library online catalog at:
http://bit.ly/2M2JYmk
to access the FCPL & FCPS Summer 2018 Reading Lists which will provide access to dozens of well reviewed eBooks & eAudiobooks for FREE. All that’s needed for access is a student (or FCPS staff) ID to check out books and a device (tablet, Kindle, smartphone, etc.) for reading or listening. More often than not, books come in both print and audio, so kids can listen to a professional narrator while tracking the words on the page when they use both versions simultaneously. Or, the entire family can listen to a book during a long car ride via the smartphone Axis360 App. For access information, see “FCPS Axis360 eBooks & eAudiobooks”, below.
FCPS Axis360 eBooks & eAudiobooks (High School):
