THE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Last week ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) report cards were unveiled. OHS was proud to have earned 5 out of 5 stars as this represents huge success for our staff, students and community. This report cards measures our academic success on PARCC tests, as well students’ on track status for graduation, access to a well-rounded education, students that are not chronically absent and other measures. The 5 star rating illustrates where we have room for improvement and will be the focus for analysis and change at OHS. I will present our report card and other information to the OHS community at registration night, February 6, 2019. If you would like to take a look at our ESSA report card and other data from around the county and state, visit:

Remember—we have school every day next week—and Friday, December 21 is a full day of school!!
NEWS AND EVENTS
Late Arrival Policy
As a reminder, students need to be in class when the bell rings at 7:30 each morning. Starting Wednesday, December 5, an administrator will be in the front hall to assign consequences for unexcused late arrivals to school. Students receive a warning for the 1st and 2nd time they’re late to school. The 3rd late earns an after school detention; the 4th late earns two after school detentions; the 5th late and any additional late arrivals earn a Saturday School. Unexcused late arrivals may also result in students failing classes due to attendance.

MD General Assembly
Every year, five high school seniors from Frederick County have the opportunity to work in the state legislature in Annapolis as a student page. This is an excellent opportunity for seniors who have an interest in government and politics. Past OHS students who have served as pages in the Maryland General Assembly said it was an outstanding experience. Interested students should see Mr. Smarick in B108 for more information.
