The Weekly Bear News
School Calendar
We are in the home stretch!! As we approach the end of the year, I have just a few end of year and summer reminders: 1) Friday, June 15 is the exam make-up day. Students who do not have an exam to make up are excused from the school day. For most OHS students, June 14 will be their last day. 2) Please settle all obligations or turn in books and supplies that are outstanding. Students with a financial obligation will not be able to attend the Homecoming Dance next year. Please turn items in or pay for those items that are truly lost or damaged ASAP. 3) Student schedules will not be available until August and will be posted on HAC for you to view. Please look for the FOF notice in August with specific availability dates and the schedule change window. 4) Our summer hours start on Monday, June 18. Our office will be open from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Most of our 12 month employees take vacation during this time, but the front office will always be covered to assist you. If you need help from guidance, etc., it is best to call and make an appointment to be sure that the staff who can help you will be available when you arrive. 5) Mark your calendars for Back to School Night: August 29!!
I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing summer—with plenty of time for family and fun! See you again soon BEARS!!
All library materials and Chromebooks borrowed by underclassmen are due to the library starting Wednesday, June 6th and no later than Thursday, June 14th by the end of the school day. Items out slips will be delivered to students in their first block classes on Wednesday, June 6th and underclassmen may bring in their library materials and Chromebooks thereafter on their own time at SET, lunch, in between classes, or before & after school. We ask that students return their own materials and do NOT ask other students, parents, teachers or staff to do so in the event we have questions about missing or damaged items.
Any fines for lost or damaged materials owed by underclassmen are also due by the end of the day on Thursday, June 14th.
Checks (no cash, please) can be made out to the OHS Library for library materials and brought to the OHS Library Help Desk during school hours; a receipt will be issued. For Chromebook obligations, please make checks (no cash, please) out to Oakdale High School and bring them to the OHS Library Help Desk for a receipt, as well.
If you have any questions, please call the Library Help Desk directly at 240-566-9690 and talk to Mrs. Owen or Mrs. Murdoch.
Students are expected to ride their assigned bus each day. Students should not be riding another bus unless it is an emergency. If an emergency occurs, a signed parent note must be turned into the front office from both students. A bus pass will be issued to the guest rider. If there are any questions, please contact the school.
Lifetouch will have three sessions for Senior Portraits. If you cannot make any of these sessions, please contact Lifetouch directly to schedule your portraits at a Lifetouch Studio (800-445-1189). Only formal senior portraits taken with Lifetouch will be included in the 2019 Yearbook. Concerns or questions contact the yearbook advisor, Ms. Pyles at amy.pyles@fcps.org.
