The Weekly Bear News
School Calendar
Graduation is Friday June 1. Because graduation is at 10 a.m., most faculty will be at the Knott Arena in Emmitsburg assisting with the ceremony. As a result, students who choose to attend OHS will be in a study hall all day. Students will report to the study hall at 7:30 a.m. (cafeteria), then they will break off with teachers who have stayed behind for supervision. The regular bus schedule will be in place.
Oakdale High School received a silver medal ranking on the U.S. News and World Report “America’s Best List”. The Bears ranked 23rd statewide! U.S. News used a four-step methodology to evaluate high schools. The first focused on student performance on state-mandated math and reading tests during 2015-2016. Schools had to perform better than statistically expected given their student poverty levels to make it to the next step. The second step factored in performance of each school’s historically underserved students—those of black, Hispanic and low-income backgrounds—compared with the state average. To achieve the third step a school needed to boast a rounded graduation rate of at least 80 percent. The final step evaluated preparation for college based on student participation and performance on AP and IB exams.
Congratulations to Seniors on their last day of high school ever! I wish you well in all that you have planned. Please be safe, show up for graduation practices on time, and dream big!!

Participants will meet during SET 1-2 times every month. Ambassador duties may include academic support, navigating the school, scheduling consultation or other needs.
