Interested in being a Graduate Speaker? We will have two Class of 2022 Graduate Speakers for our May 27th graduation ceremony. Those interested will be using the following Google Form link to complete the submission process.

(1) written speeches and speaker bios must be included with this form and submitted no later than 2:45pm Friday, April 8th. (2) Students will be required to audition in front of the graduation speaker committee on Monday, April 11th. Opportunity for Juniors
American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a residential training program for high school girls, which is operated in all 50 states. The objective is to provide "hands on" training in the management of a democratic government at city, county and state levels. Topics such as the structure of the various levels of government, simulated legislation, two-party politics and the duties of various government offices will be covered. There is no cost for attendees, and this is a wonderful addition to any college application.

CTC Scholarship 2021-2022 online application is available NOW!
Deadline to Apply: Wednesday March 30th by 2:00 p.m. So don't delay, fill out the electronic application today!!
Scholarships are open to all CTC SENIORS who have completed their CTC program OR are currently attending CTC and will complete their program this year. Multiple scholarship opportunities are available!
Along with your online application, you will need 2 recommendation letters - 1 letter from your CTC program instructor and 1 letter from a home high school teacher, counselor, or coach. Contact your teachers ASAP to request these letters!
Both letters should be emailed by the deadline March 30th at 2:00 p.m. to Mrs. Keeney-Fisher aimee.fisher@fcps.org . You can also drop them off to the CTC School Counseling Office.

The Community Foundation of Frederick County's 2022-2023 scholarship application will be open from March 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022.
Students who will graduate this June and are planning to attend college or pursue vocational training, or those students currently enrolled and attending college or vocational training should apply.
Scholarship criteria are established by the scholarship funds’ founding donors. Some scholarships do not consider financial need. All students are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are available for all areas of study.

Selective Service: A reminder that under federal law, virtually all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Students can register on-line at www.sss.gov
NATIONAL SCHOOL FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAM Breakfast and lunch meals are FREE for ALL FCPS students for the 2021-2022 school year. Breakfast and lunch are available on days when students are in school. Please note that snacks, ice cream, and drinks (other than milk) are not free and must be purchased from the cafeteria.
We encourage families to complete the free and reduced-price meal benefits application even though all children receive meals at no charge because the USDA provides funds that support the nutrition program based on your child's eligibility. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meal reimbursement is based on the following annual income eligibility guidelines effective from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
If you have previously received free and reduced-price meal benefits, you must re-apply for the 2021-22 school year.

PROOF OF RESIDENCY
Have you moved? Did you know that whenever you move, you must provide your child’s school with a current (within 30 days) proof of residency? This is a Maryland state requirement. Acceptable proof of residency is as follows (only one of the following is required):
NOTE: We are unable to update the address in our system until we receive a copy of the new proof of residency. It typically takes 3-5 business days for the transportation department to assign a bus after the update is made in the student system.

On the student’s last day of the student’s attendance at OHS, the student will be asked to return all financial obligations such as: Chromebook (to Mrs. Connolly), books (to Teachers), etc… and they will be provided with a transfer packet which will include but not limited to a copy of:

Mental Health Resources The Maryland Department of Health released a “Student and Young Adult Resource Guide for Coping During COVID-19”. Click here to see it. It’s a handy, comprehensive guide created for secondary and college students to spotlight issues and find resources on how to help themselves and each other through the continued adjustment to pandemic-created changes. Many of the resources also support elementary students. The FCPS Mental Health Matters page can be found here. Students and family members who are experiencing difficulty may wish to contact the Frederick County Mental Health Association (MHA).
Walk-In Behavioral Health Services The Walk-in Service has resumed seeing clients in person at their office located at 226 South Jefferson Street in Frederick for those who prefer to see someone face to face. They are also continuing to offer their Virtual Walk-In platform for those who feel more comfortable with that. The MHA's call center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From intervention, a caring and supporting voice at a moment of crisis, to connecting to resources and information, dial 211.
