The Community Foundation of Frederick County's 2022-2023 Scholarship Application Information
The Community Foundation of Frederick County's 2022-2023 scholarship application will be open from March 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022.
Students who will graduate this June and are planning to attend college or pursue vocational training, or those students currently enrolled and attending college or vocational training should apply.
Scholarship criteria are established by the scholarship funds’ founding donors. Some scholarships do not consider financial need. All students are encouraged to apply.
Scholarships are available for all areas of study. An information session about these scholarships will be held: Thursday, February 16th during SET
Students will need to sign up to attend using their Naviance account.

FCC Night for High School Seniors (open to prospective high school seniors) -UPDATED
Wednesday, February 23, 2022 OR Thursday, March 17, 2022 (The two events are the same, we are just offering two different dates. Please encourage students to register early as there is a capacity limit due to COVID-19 protocol.)
6:00 - 8:00 pm at Main Campus, Student Center (H)

There will be an academic and resource information fair where students can engage with faculty and staff. The Bookstore will be open from 6-6:45 pm and will have a free giveaway for all students. A big incentive for attending one of these events is students will be able to make an early advising appointment- be one of the first students to register for classes! There will be presentations from Admissions and Career & Academic Planning Services. Lastly, guests will be able to attend one breakout session on either Financial Aid or attend an FCC student panel.

John Hopkins Engineering Innovation
Johns Hopkins Engineering Innovation offers a collection of specialized pre-college programs for high-achieving math and science students. This summer, we’re back with our popular in-person summer program, Explore Engineering Innovation (In-Person), at campuses in multiple locations. And for those who prefer an online option, Explore Engineering Innovation (Online) will be offered as a synchronous, class, or check out our thought-provoking Biomedical Engineering Innovation course.

The Explore Engineering Innovation course features exciting learning opportunities, including building a spaghetti bridge, programming a microcontroller, pitching a new and novel product or service, and plenty more.
Our Biomedical Engineering Innovation program gives students the opportunity to model biological systems and design experiments to test their models. Using engineering principles to solve problems that are biological, physiological, and/or medical.
Designed by trusted scientists and engineers from Johns Hopkins University, you can be sure the academic rigor and ingenuity runs deeps throughout our courses—all in a supportive and confidence-building environment.

NATIONAL SCHOOL FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAM Breakfast and lunch meals are FREE for ALL FCPS students for the 2021-2022 school year. Breakfast and lunch are available on days when students are in school. Please note that snacks, ice cream, and drinks (other than milk) are not free and must be purchased from the cafeteria.
We encourage families to complete the free and reduced-price meal benefits application even though all children receive meals at no charge because the USDA provides funds that support the nutrition program based on your child's eligibility. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meal reimbursement is based on the following annual income eligibility guidelines effective from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
If you have previously received free and reduced-price meal benefits, you must re-apply for the 2021-22 school year.

PROOF OF RESIDENCY
Have you moved? Did you know that whenever you move, you must provide your child’s school with a current (within 30 days) proof of residency? This is a Maryland state requirement. Acceptable proof of residency is as follows (only one of the following is required):
NOTE: We are unable to update the address in our system until we receive a copy of the new proof of residency. It typically takes 3-5 business days for the transportation department to assign a bus after the update is made in the student system.

MOVING / TRANSFER PACKETS

On the student’s last day of the student’s attendance at OHS, the student will be asked to return all financial obligations such as: Chromebook (to Mrs. Connolly), books (to Teachers), etc… and they will be provided with a transfer packet which will include but not limited to a copy of:

Mental Health Resources The Maryland Department of Health released a “Student and Young Adult Resource Guide for Coping During COVID-19”. Click here to see it. It’s a handy, comprehensive guide created for secondary and college students to spotlight issues and find resources on how to help themselves and each other through the continued adjustment to pandemic-created changes. Many of the resources also support elementary students. The FCPS Mental Health Matters page can be found here. Students and family members who are experiencing difficulty may wish to contact the Frederick County Mental Health Association (MHA).
Walk-In Behavioral Health Services The Walk-in Service has resumed seeing clients in person at their office located at 226 South Jefferson Street in Frederick for those who prefer to see someone face to face. They are also continuing to offer their Virtual Walk-In platform for those who feel more comfortable with that. The MHA's call center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From intervention, a caring and supporting voice at a moment of crisis, to connecting to resources and information, dial 211.
