2020-2021 SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
We are excited to announce that the USDA has approved FREE meals for all children 18 years old and younger!
STARTING FEBRUARY 16, all FCPS schools will serve breakfast, lunch and supper (to-go) for FREE to all children learning in school buildings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
All meals will be individually wrapped or compartmentalized.
Free breakfast and lunch meals will be available to children in cohort A on Mondays and Tuesdays while they are in school and to children in cohort B on Thursdays and Fridays while they are in the school. On these days when students are learning in a school building, they can also take a free to-go meal home for supper that same day.
Due to the amount of food being distributed for the remainder of the days, we encourage families who want additional meals for the days when students are not in the school building learning (virtual days at home, weekends, holidays) to pick up the additional meals at the child’s school on a day when they are learning in the building or visit one of the open community sites listed below on Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 11am-1pm to pick up the additional meals.
Starting Wednesday February 17th, 23 FCPS schools listed below will distribute to-go breakfast, lunch and supper meals for FREE from 11am-1pm on Wednesdays and Fridays to ALL children in the community on days when they are not physically in a school building learning.

Great news: Frederick organizations combined forces and created the "Frederick County GIS Food Distribution Public WebApp" to help community members easily find food distribution sites. An individual just needs to search his/her address, and a list of food distribution sites will appear also indicating hours of distribution and whether any paperwork is required.

FCPS, Career and Technology Center (CTC)
The Career and Technology Center (CTC) is part of the Frederick County Public Schools system. With more than 24 programs to choose from, students have the opportunity to gain college and career experience in a variety of areas.
FCPS students in grades 9, 10 & 11 interested in learning more and/or applying to a program at the Career & Technology Center for the 2021-2022 school year can now sign up for a virtual shadow experience.
Last day for shadowing is this Friday February 26th and applications are due March 5th. In order to be able to schedule all the students who request a shadow for their virtual shadow experience we are going to close the online Shadow Request Form at the end of the day on Wednesday, February 24th.
Virtual shadow information is sent to students through their FCPS student email account so please remind students to be checking their emails as the turn-around time between their request and the virtual shadow may be very quick since we are approaching the last remaining days of shadowing. It is also important that students attend their scheduled virtual shadow(s) as there will no longer be an opportunity to reschedule them.
Click here to request a virtual shadow: https://education.fcps.org/ctc/Shadowing
Click here to apply to the FCPS Career & Technology Center: https://education.fcps.org/ctc/APPLY
Note: Shadowing is a requirement to apply.

process: https://education.fcps.org/ctc/Admissions
Here are also some trouble-shooting tips for students when they are logging on to either request a shadow or complete an online application...
• Log in credentials are their FCPS user ID & password but without the @my.fcps.org after their user ID (ex. 05BSmith).
• Sometimes the firewall set up by FCPS Tech Services will respond differently on different devices so sometimes if they are logging in correctly but still having trouble - switching to a different device may work.
For additional information about the CTC, the application process and more go to http://education.fcps.org/ctc/, email Kristen.Daly@fcps.org or call 240-236-8493.
FCPS Academy for the Fine Arts (AFA)
During virtual learning at FCPS, students interested in the FCPS Academy for the Fine Arts (AFA) are encouraged to sign up for a virtual Shadow Day, held once monthly on a Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM.
During the visit, students will get a virtual tour of the program and have the opportunity to meet staff and students while participating in a question-and-answer session.
Open to students countywide in FCPS grades 10-12, the AFA is a college and career pathway program that offers focus areas in dance, music, theatre and visual arts. Based at Governor Thomas Johnson High School, the AFA meets during the first two instructional blocks only, permitting students to attend their neighborhood school programs for the afternoons. Transportation to and from TJ High is provided via FCPS Career and Technology Center shuttles.
The AFA provides an intense curriculum that challenges and engages serious high school students while fostering refinement of individual artistic styles, techniques and portfolio development through enrichment opportunities like field trips, concerts, plays, museums, workshops and interaction with professional artists and mentors.
Auditions for the AFA will take place on Saturdays, February 20 and 27.
To register for a virtual shadow day, visit the AFA Website. https://www.fcpsartsacademy.org/afa-virtual-visit.html
