News from the Media Center Jennifer Siderius
Read Your Height Challenge
On Thursday, September 13th, contest papers for the Read Your Height Challenge were sent home with all NMES students! This year, Mrs. Siderius, our media specialist, is trying to read her height in books! If your child would like to join her in the competition, please read the information sent home or visit https://goo.gl/v83MFY. Any student who participates and finishes reading their height by the end of the school year will receive a coupon for the Curious Iguana!
Library Book Returns--Text Reminders
Concerned about remembering when your child's library books are due? Sign up for text alerts from the media center through Remind! Please visit https://education.fcps.org/nmes/mediaschedule and click on the day of the week that your child has media class. When you click on the day of the week, a PDF will open with instructions on how to register to receive text reminders about library book returns. For questions, email Mrs. Siderius at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org.
Ebooks and More!
Don't forget that the media center databases, such as FactCite and PebbleGo, along with our free ebook resources, such as Bookflix and Axis 360, are always available to NMES students and families! Visit the media center website (http://education.fcps.org/nmes/mediacenter) from work, home, school or anywhere to access these great resources. At the top of the chart of databases is a link to the usernames and passwords. After clicking on the link, sign in with your child's school computer username and password to see the whole list. Trouble signing in? Email Mrs. Siderius at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org for help!
New Science Books
Over the summer, I weeded our science books and am working to replace them with updated content that matches your updated curriculums. The link below will show you just some of the new science books that we are getting this year about matter, light, sound, erosion, plant and animal adaptations and more! Let me know when you'd like me to pull them for you to borrow!
