News from the Principal's Desk
Dear Titan Families,
Welcome to another school year which begins bright and early tomorrow morning here at Tuscarora High School. I hope everyone had a good summer filled with fun activities and family time. As part of getting back into the routines of school, we present this special "Back to School Edition" of our weekly THS Newsletter. Each week, we endeavor to bring you upcoming calendar events; school news and reminders; links to other important information and program; school counseling information; commendations and congratulations for student, groups and staff; pictures from the week and much more. Parents frequently remarked to me that the weekly newsletter is their Friday Night or Saturday morning routine. That they feel like they have a handle on what's going on at Tuscarora having read it.
I want to thank so many families that joined us for New Student Orientation and/or Back to School Night this past week. The turnout of new students and parents was the largest in recent memory, and we were pleased to get your feedback on the program. After a quiet summer, it made us happy to see so many of you.
The first week of school is filled with new routines and a look ahead to the year. While it is time consuming, I would ask that you read the syllabus from all four of your student's courses. A syllabus is a "road map", and it's important for parents, as well as students to understand the journey, what to expect and what they'll see and do along the way. In addition, during these times when security and safety are key, I would also ask that every parent please fill out the emergency card that your student will bring home on the first day.
If you or your children, have questions about classes, we encourage them this week to ask their teachers. If you have questions about health and well-being, schedules, applying to colleges, etc. seek out our school counselors. And the other members of the administrative team and I stand ready to serve you this year and beyond. Welcome back!

Tuscarora High Updates Parking and Drop Off Procedures
Tuscarora High School values our students' safety as they arrive and depart from school each day. To keep our pedestrians, car riders, and bus riders safe, it is important that all community members follow the directions on the attached map for walking and driving in our parking lots.
Please be sure to attend to these procedures when you are dropping your students off or arriving to THS tomorrow, and welcome back!
Student Parking Permits
The procedure for attaining a student parking permit has changed for the 2019-20 school year. Due to the increase in the size of our student population the number of students who require parking permits because of off campus academic programs, and maintaining student safety, we have revised our policies and procedures from previous years. To alleviate issues of overcrowding from last Spring, all spots in the student lot have been numbered. Student parking will be "open" during the Week of September 3-6, while we process parking permits already received, and those that will come in. Student parking hanging tags will be distributed later this week with specified permit numbers. Students MUST park in the numbered spot that corresponds to their parking permit. Beginning Monday, September 9, only students who have requested and received a parking permit will be allowed access into the student parking lot. Any unidentified cars in the student lot will be identified, warned, ticketed in addition to other actions. Permits will be issued on a first-come, first served basis.
Congratulations, Commendations and Kudos
