News from Principal Christopher Berry
It’s certainly difficult to tell from this week’s snow, but we are beginning our spring activities and the end of the year will be here before you know it. For the members of the Class of 2018, it is actually “end of school career” activities that culminate with their graduation on June 1, 2018. Many senior parents find this time of year a bit overwhelming, and for that reason I strongly urge you to attend our Senior Parent Meeting in two weeks on Wednesday, April 4 at 7 PM in the auditorium. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know from now until graduation day!
The Junior-Senior Prom is also an annual memorable event. This year’s prom will be held at the Frederick Fairgrounds in the elegant showroom on Friday, April 27. This year’s theme is “Old Hollywood”. Tickets will go on sale after spring break. A reminder that Juniors and Seniors may only purchase tickets if they have cleared financial obligations.
Next week, the Tuscarora PTSA is sponsoring a great informational seminar. Dr. Kevin Graditor will be speaking and conducting a discussion on teen mental health, including signs of depression, and how (as a parent) to help ensure your child is in good mental health as we move into spring. The event is free and all parents in the Tuscarora district (Elementary, Middle and High) are encouraged to attend.
Finally, despite the snow, spring sports and other activities are getting under way. While the recent storm may have buried the fields, courts and tracks for the moment, contests will be well underway in the near future. It’s a great opportunity on a spring afternoon to come out to enjoy the competitive and exciting world of high school sports. Likewise, in May, the evenings will be alive with the sounds of the musical “Annie” on May 10, 11, and 12. Tuscarora is fortunate to be producing two musicals this year, and the nearly 75 students involved with this production will make this one a crowd pleaser for the entire family. We hope you join us. So, regardless of the weather this week, spring will be an EVENT-full time at Tuscarora High School. Come out and be part of your school community!
