Message From The Principal's Desk
Dear Titan Families,
This was a week of celebration as the National Honor Society welcomed 40 new members, following on the heels of the National Technical Honor Society inducting its second class at THS the week before last. In the midst of many challenges of our times, it is especially refreshing to see students who are working to not only meet but greatly exceed the bar of excellence. As I frequently tell NHS inductees, this is not a recognition of a year or two of hard work, but of 12 or 13 years of consistent excellence inside and outside the classroom. Congratulations to all of the new inductees!
Equally as impressive were the results in our performing arts programs, where the Titan Orchestra produced high marks at its recent adjudication, and the choral program produced "superior" ratings in many of its categories. In addition, our fall stage comedy "The Greek Mythology Olympiganza" had audiences laughing a couple of weeks ago, bringing live theatre back to the THS stage. Now more than ever, the dedication of our student performers is something that gives me a great sense of pride as a principal. Many of our programs have worked hard to reach these accomplishments after a long period where our students couldn't perform together for an audience. Welcome back, Titan Performing Arts!
Next week begins the contests among our winter athletic programs. Best of luck to the indoor track, wrestling, swimming and boys and girls basketball teams as they write the next chapter of the Titan sports story. Check our website for contest times and locations. We hope to see you here!
With Titan Pride,
Christopher Berry
Principal

Indoor events require that all in attendance properly wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. The only exception is when athletes are ACTIVELY engaged in a game/meet/contest. Booster meeting this coming Monday (12/6) is important. We are organizing our community to influence the upcoming Board of Ed decision making process for THS to get a stadium renovation. Please plan on attending either virtually or in person – details below!
BOE requires vaccinations for ALL interscholastic extra-curricular activities.
As a reminder, the Board of Education recently passed a regulation that all winter student-athletes will need to be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing to participate – the deadline for this is going to be December 6th . Fully vaccinated means 14 days AFTER your final shot. We will be collecting vaccination status after team selections are complete. Testing will occur in the school weekly, however if you miss it, you can get a PCR test on your own and provide the AD with the results. More info to come from FCPS and your coaches. Please have conversations with your family and student-athlete now about how to best take care of this so it does not affect their eligibility to participate. Thank you.
