Message From The Principal's Desk
Dear Titan Families,
It is the week before our long Thanksgiving Break. We hope you are ready to enjoy extended time with your family and friends.
With the return to live instruction this year we've also noticed an uptick in the number of students who are arriving late to school each day. While virtual instruction may have been a matter of sitting at a computer in your home to attend class, this year is a different reality. For our walkers and car drivers, its primarily a matter getting back into pre-March 2019 habits. The little things make a difference: leaving five minutes earlier in the morning if you drive or walk, pulling all the way up in the drop-off area, and having an excuse note when you are a few minutes late. Students who arrive without an excusal note are marked "tardy/unexcused." If you ask your student, they would probably agree with this fundamental truth: the first 5-7 minutes of a class block are the most vital. Directions are given, homework is collected, materials come out and outfits/safety clothing go on, work is returned, clarifications on assignments and deadline reminders are given. If you miss it, it’s not just any five minutes; you’re playing catch-up for the rest of the block. Thank you, Titan families, for continuing to reinforce the real world lesson that being on time in the classroom and ready to go is the most important daily habit.
After numerous productive conversation this week, I am grateful for parents/guardians on the other end of the phone or an email when we’re attempting to communicate with you. We pledge to continue to meet you wherever your student and family are. If there are questions or concerns that you would like to discuss, a great starting point is your child’s teachers and counselors. Send a note through Schoology or email and expect a response within 1-2 school days at the most.
With the holiday next week, we will not publish a Titan Weekly Newsletter. I hope that everyone a safe and healthy break, and has a chance to reflect on the positive blessings in your life. I am always grateful for the opportunity to serve the Tuscarora High School community as your principal. It is energizing to me to work with this group of students, staff and parents, recognizing that there is always work to be done. May you find gratitude with your friends and family, near and far.
With Titan Pride,
Christopher Berry
Principal

Titan Athletics
Winter Sports Tryouts have completed! Congratulations to all our student-athletes that were selected for a winter sport roster! We look forward to a great 21-22 season.
BOE requires vaccinations for ALL interscholastic extra-curricular activities.
As a reminder, the Board of Education recently passed a regulation that all winter student-athletes will need to be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing to participate – the deadline for this is going to be December 6th . Fully vaccinated means 14 days AFTER your final shot. We will be collecting vaccination status after team selections are complete. Testing will occur in the school weekly, however if you miss it, you can get a PCR test on your own and provide the AD with the results. More info to come from FCPS and your coaches. Please have conversations with your family and student-athlete now about how to best take care of this so it does not affect their eligibility to participate. Thank you.
Skip the Line!!!
