Message From The Principal's Desk
Dear Titan Families,
It was a short week for students, but a good week for learning just the same. If you view today's Morning Announcements (link under the Media Center section), our focus was a commemoration of the events 20 years ago of September 11, 2001. Those of us of a certain age will never forget where we were, and also how our world changed as a result of the tragedies that day. It is always important for us to pause, remember, and allow for reflection time with our students, for whom the events of 9/11 are history. Many students remarked about how they were pleased to see the commemoration today. We hope you take the opportunity to volunteer tomorrow on Patriot Day, the National Day of 9/11 Commemoration and Day of Service.
You will notice that we are bringing back the "THS Student of the Week" feature to The Titan Weekly. Each week, we chose two students who exemplify scholarship and character among the many nominations that come from teachers. If you child does not win, they may well have been nominated. The winners have their picture posted on Main Street, have the honor announced on the morning announcements, and are recognized among their peers. It's always worth a look, to notice the variety of students who are nominated each week. In addition, in the "Kudos" section below, we bring you news of student and staff achievement and items of note among Tuscarora students.
Here's a reminder that Tuscarora High School is sponsoring an on-site vaccine clinic for our students here next Tuesday. It is not too late to sign up. You do NOT need to be present for your child to be vaccinated, but you need to provide consent. Details are below.
In case you did not know, there are grade level school groups within Schoology, in addition to your child's classes, and the THS Parent Group. If you haven't taken the time to log onto Schoology yet, I can assure you it's about far more than just grade reports. You can see your students assignments, get information just for parents, check out school counseling and media center resources, find out about activities. In addition, if there is a notice posted to your child's class about a potential COVID case in a class, we post the parent letter here. Being a parent/guardian of a virtual student is not easy job right now. Schoology takes a lot of the guesswork out of that job.
Thank you, as always for being our partners on this journey. We know how hard families are working to ensure that their students have the materials they need, are learning to use technology resources, and are keeping up with all of the requests schools are making. It is always a source of Titan Pride to me that, together, we develop a shared focus on what is best for our students and our school community.
With Titan Pride,
Christopher Berry
Principal

Titan Athletics
Fall Sports are Underway!
Current Athletics MASK Policy - FCPS recommends face coverings and social distancing outside whenever attending an event on an FCPS campus. Face coverings are REQUIRED for all coaches, officials and game management staff outside, when social distance cannot be maintained. INSIDE, face coverings are required to be worn properly when not actively engaged in physical activity – this includes fans and staff. This also means student athletes must wear them on the bench, in huddles, locker rooms, etc., but may remove them upon entering the contest.
