Message From The Principal's Desk
Dear Titan Families,
This has been the most unusual school year ever. How's that for a statement of the obvious? This week it comes to an end, and I, for one, am glad we made it to this finish line. Before we put this year to rest, however, it's important to remember a few positive takeaways. Our students learned and accomplished things that many didn't think possible. We all learned together, but remotely. We master new technology and communication skills that will serve us well in the future. We discovered it is possible to teach and learn with some students live and some remote. We carried on many Titan traditions, even if some were recorded or done via Google Meet. We had challenges and aspects of school that simply didn't go well. But we also had many successes. We climbed several mountains together - virtual learning, asynchronous days, hybrid learning, the colored circles on the screen, material drop off and pickups, a graduation at home. In every instance, students, staff and parents rolled up their sleeves, got creative, and together met the challenge. For that, I could not be more proud as your principal.
And so we look to more promising days ahead. We all look forward to a "return to normal." Slowly but surely, we are reemerging into the world. An example is the picture below. This is one of the local Tuscarora community Little League teams. They reached out to the Titan Baseball Team and asked for assistance in coaching the younger ones. And what do you know? They learned baseball, they got to gather on a the Keys Stadium field, older kids mentoring young ones. They laughed, they got dirty and they felt normal. Here's to many more days ahead such as this one, where our world feels more familiar. And we will see you back here at Tuscarora in August, five days a week, in person, all of us a little wiser and able to persevere just a little better.
With Titan Pride,
Christopher Berry
Principal

Congratulations, Commendations & Kudos
THS is proud to be named a PLTW Distinguished School for the 2020-2021 academic year! We are one of just 204 high schools across the U.S. to receive this honor for providing broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through PLTW Biomedical Science and PLTW Engineering. PLTW is a nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK-12 students and teachers in over 12,200 schools across the U.S.
The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, THS had to meet the following criteria in the 2019-20 school year:

Had 25 percent of students or more participate in PLTW courses, or of those who participated in PLTW, at least 33 percent took two or more PLTW courses;

From the Student Services Department
Happy Summer, Titans!!!
A few notes to end the school year and head into summer and next school year:
Graduates: All final transcripts have been sent to colleges that students have indicated in Naviance or at graduation practice as well as to the NCAA Clearinghouse. Please check with your college to be sure that they have received your final transcript. If there is an issue, please contact your School Counselor.
FCC Dual Enrollment: As a reminder, students who took FCC classes under the Dual Enrollment program need to request a transcript from FCC to be sent to their four year college in order for college credits to transfer. This can be done on a student's FCC PeopleSoft Account. Any questions regarding sending FCC transcripts to colleges, please contact FCC directly.
High School Based Dual Enrollment and Open Campus for school year 2021-2022: Any student who still needs to submit an application for either school based or Open Campus FCC / Dual enrollment classes should now contact either Ms. Cooper (students last names A - L) or Mr. Harrison (students last name M - Z).
Work Study: Students interested in Work Study, Internships or Apprenticeships for the 21-22 school year should now contact Ms. Jorgensen at judith.jorgensen@fcps.org

Counselors only work sporadically throughout the summer, but will do our best to answer your questions and meet your needs in as timely a manner as possible. Google Drive
The site below details how to “take your Google Drive files with you” when you graduate from or otherwise leave FCPS. Google does not allow you to transfer ownership of documents across domains (from an FCPS Google account to a personal Google account), so files must be downloaded to save them out of your FCPS Google Drive. Use one of the two methods below to download your files. Please do this before the school year ends forstudents.
