News from the Principal's Desk
Dear Tuscarora Families,
As we turn the calendar page to December, it's important that we begin to share with you FCPS and THS plans to move to a hybrid model of instruction, beginning with the second semester. While many of these plans are still fluid, we plan to share details with you as they solidify, and share what options you have as parents and students. Our primary priority continues to be the safety of our students and staff, creating the most productive educational environment that we can. Today, you received an important email from FCPS, asking families to indicate there intention for their students for second semester. If you happened to miss this important Find Out First message, it is reprinted below in School News, with the link to go to the official student intention form. It is vital that we here from all Tuscarora families, so that we are able to make good decisions concerning class sizes, movement around the building and bus transportation. This is not a survey, but timely information that we need from all families. Please take the time to fill out one form per student today. Thank you.
Likewise, it hardly seems possible, but we are forging ahead with course registration plans for the 2021-22 school year. Next week, we will be hosting two virtual meetings for returning students concerning the online registration process, and the details of how to make the best course selections. Please stay tuned on this.
Lots of new information in this week's newsletter. Please have a close look. And Titans... stay tuned for details about an evening virtual game night sponsored by our SGA that will be coming up the week before winter break!
With Titan Pride,
Christopher Berry, Principal

Keeping You Informed - School News
Important: Required Parent Intention Form – 2nd Semester
We need to hear from you! As you know, on November 11, 2020, the Board of Education voted for Frederick County Public Schools to move from a virtual learning model to a hybrid learning model for students in grades PreK-12 at the start of the second semester on January 28, 2021. Any decision to change this timeline would be made by the Superintendent in collaboration with the local health department. Parents are able to choose for their child(ren) to participate in a full virtual model instead of hybrid.
As Dr. Alban shared in the December 2, 2020 Superintendent Newsletter, “Scheduling this model takes considerable time and planning, and we must start that process. One of the first steps is the completion of intent forms for families and staff.”
FCPS recognizes that your preference for virtual or hybrid instruction has been requested in previous surveys. However, we need to hear your current preference for your child’s instructional model for the second semester for planning purposes. We are providing additional pertinent information to assist you in making the instructional decision for your child. Please read the description of each learning model carefully prior to making a decision.
To access the intent form, go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HybridOpenParentIntentDec20
We ask that you complete one intent form per child enrolled in FCPS.
The intent form closes on Friday, December 11, 2020.
Please note at the beginning of the intent form, you are asked to provide your child’s name, school, and grade. The information is important to adequately prepare for your child’s instruction.
Thank you for your commitment to supporting FCPS!

THS Parents - Important Grade Level Schoology Groups are Here!
The THS Counseling department has set up an information hub/group in Schoology for each grade level. It is titled "THS Counseling - Class of 2022, Class of 2023, Class of 2024" respectively. Information and resources particular and helpful to each grade level will be shared throughout the school year. Since students and parents are already using Schoology for courses and to check grades, we figured it would be best to keep all THS information in one location instead of getting notifications from multiple sources. Athletic Boosters - Our Titans Need your Help and Support!
FCPS Athletics is a MD State Leader! We are one of the ONLY local counties to have any sort of athletics occurring right now! The student athletes are having a blast, seeing their teammates, connecting with their coaches and staying safe! However, there are no competitions, and therefore, no athletic budget (which comes solely from gate receipts). The state is now looking at the possibilities of incorporating three shortened seasons in the spring, and there is a lot of work to be done to prepare and plan for such a non-traditional plan for interscholastic athletics. Please consider joining us to be a part of the solution. Our teams, our coaches, and most importantly, your students NEED our support and positivity now and this upcoming year. The loss of a traditional fall and winter ticket gate means the serious loss of all athletic funding. Come help us determine how we can/will be able to support ALL athletic teams moving forward.
BE A PART OF THE 2020-21 THS ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB!
As we prepare for whatever HS Athletics will look like during the upcoming year, the THS Athletic Boosters wants your input, welcomes your ideas, and needs your support. With the uncertainty of the upcoming year and the current financial conditions, this is the best possible way to help support the student athletes at Tuscarora. Each and every program is going to need our help navigating this year.
