Important yearbook information for Seniors!
As the yearbook adviser, I need to speak directly to the seniors and the parents of seniors about some important deadlines. First, I have extended the time period to select your yearbook photo from the Prestige online site. The option to select your yearbook pose will be open until Friday November 15, 2019. After that time, images will be automatically selected by the photography provider. Second, Senior Quotes are due by Friday December 20, 2019. This is an important deadline folks. We have been trying to encourage seniors to participate for the past six weeks and, to date, we've only collected 28 quotes. Last year, we had so few quotes that I was forced to place them on one page at the end of the senior section.
But, understand that my job as adviser is to read every single quote and often times to research quotes when they indicate a portion of a song, or an internet link, or a scene in a movie. In other words, it takes a lot of work on my end to make sure the quotes are appropriate for a high school publication. I'm happy to do this if we have upwards of 300 quotes because they can go underneath the student's name and it is a really awesome tradition that I don't want to lose. If this Titan graduating class is motivated to participate, then I am more than motivated to facilitate.
If, however, if we only have 185 quotes (last years' total), I will not be including the quotes in this year's book. Last year I made the concession to place the quotes on a single page because placing them under the student names, when roughly half our students did not participate, negatively affected the look of our publication. But this concession still required a significant time commitment on my part and resulted in both students and parents voicing their displeasure.
I genuinely want to continue this tradition, but students need to want it as well. So, take some time to think about your quote and, when you know for sure what you want to say, take five minutes to go to the link http://tinyurl.com/thsquotes2020 and write your quote. NOTE: You will have to be logged in under your THS account to access the Google Doc. We also have the link displayed on posters around the building and we also have a QR code made and have posters made for that as well.
If you have any questions, please contact me at: richard.hartman@fcps.org
