Free Movie Showing of Heroin's Grip - Join the Catoctin community for a free showing of Heroin's Grip on Tuesday, May 21 at 7:00 pm. This movie is a documentary film about the heroin and opioid addiction epidemic from the viewpoint of those on the front lines. The movie showing is free of charge and is sponsored by Thurmont Addiction Commission. A collection of canned/boxed good for the local food bank will be held at the event. Spring Choral Concert - The CHS music department will present a Spring Concert at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 9 in the auditorium. The concert will feature both choral and instrumental selections.

The Cougar Soccer Camp returns this summer and once again Challenger Sports is partnering with CHS to bring their new and exciting International Soccer Camp experience to Thurmont! The camp will feature soccer coaches from all over the world, with countries including England, Ireland, Brazil, Scotland and Wales represented among their coaching staff. Campers will have a fun, exciting and skills filled week, with all players leaving the camp as improved soccer players in all aspects of the game. Camp will be held June 24-28. Tiny Tykes Summer Camp for 3-5 yrs, 8-9 am, $80; Half-day Program for 6-13 yrs, 9-12 pm , $145; Half Day Program (High School) for 14-18 yrs, 9-12 pm, $145. CHS Horticulture Program Annual Spring Plant Sale - Stop by the CHS greenhouses for a wide selection of annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, vegetable plants and herbs! This weekend is the last day to stop by the sale which will be open to the public on Saturdays, May 11, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Are you interested in playing soccer or learning to play soccer? The boys and girls soccer team are looking to bring back the JV soccer programs this coming fall. This is a great opportunity for players to come out and learn the game while building some fitness, making friends with a new group of people, learning leadership and being part of a team. Whatever your reason for wanting to play, there is a place for you in the team. There will be spring workouts anda summer recreational league to help get ready for the fall, so there's lots of time to learn and get in shape. Please see Mr. Phelan and let him know if you think you might be interested in playing!
Substance Abuse/Addiction Awareness Poster Contest - Catoctin students are invited to participate in a poster contest to create awareness about the risks associated with substance abuse and addition. CHS is collaborating with the Thurmont Addiction Commission to provide this opportunity. Posters will be judged by a panel of CHS staff, representatives from TAC and members of local law enforcement. Winners will win cash prizes of $100 for 1st Place, $75 for 2nd Place, and $50 for third place. Submissions must be entered to Mrs. Mills in the library no later than 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. For more information, visit the main office for a guidelines sheet.
50th Anniversary Artist-Signed Prints Available - Catoctin High School is selling a limited edition print featuring a drawing of Catoctin High School as it was in 1969 with images of Thurmont High School and Emmitsburg High School. The artwork was created by Kim Flabbi especially for Catoctin High School and each print is numbered and signed by the artist. Fifty prints are available for sale for the cost of $50 each. IMPORTANT YEARBOOK ANNOUNCEMENT! The last remaining yearbooks are now on sale at CHS (order forms in front office). ALL ORDERS are first-come, first-served until we sell out and we accept cash or money order sales only at this time. Full payment is due at the time of purchase. We do not “hold” or “reserve” books. We currently have fewer than 37 books left for sale. A list of students that have purchased a book (prior to April 30th) is on the door outside of room 402.
Travel Opportunity (NON-school sponsored) - Why should you travel? The experience is everything! Educational travel is a vital part of a complete education. It expands views, promotes understanding, and provides first-hand experiences of classroom lessons. For many who participate in youth travel, the credit their travel experience as positively impacting their education and career. Consider travel to Costa Rica next year. You do not have to be a language student or speak Spanish to participate in this experience. Volunteer opportunities are embedded into the trip and can count as service learning hours.
