Attention Seniors - Mandatory Meeting Tue, April 2 - Graduation is just a few months away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. There will be a mandatory meeting for seniors on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at 7:35 am in the CHS Auditorium to receive graduation information including tickets, special seating, etc. It is important that your student attend this meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gadra or Mrs. Naff at 240-236-8100.
Tux Rentals at CHS - Prom is right around the corner! Men’s Wearhouse will be visiting CHS during all lunch shifts on April 4, 2019 to do tuxedo fittings. You will be able to choose from an endless selection of colors, patterns, fits and styles that suit your own personal taste. Rental packages start as low as $99. If you would like to avoid the crowds and lines at the store, plan to get fitted at Catoctin on April 4 for just a $20 deposit (cash or credit card only).
Student Blood Drive - On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, the CHS National Honor Society will sponsor the American Red Cross in a Blood Drive from 8 am to 1:30 pm for CHS students. If your student is interested, please have them sign up during lunch shifts this week or email Mr. Gadra at david.gadra@fcps.org.
College and Career Fair - There will be a college and Career Fair at Frederick High School, 650 Carroll Parkway, Frederick, MD on Tuesday, April 2, 6-8:00 pm. Come meet with over 90 colleges and universities, all branches of the military, high school counselors, trade schools and businesses and enjoy raffles and drawings. Come early at 5:30 pm to meet admission counselors on hand to answer parent questions regarding academic high school options and the college application process. Catoctin High School Community Dinner - Join CHS for dinner, games, raffle and company! This event is open to those residing in the Catoctin feeder system. The dinner will be held Thursday, April 4, 5-7:00 p.m.in the CHS Cafeteria. Sponsored by the Catoctin High School Outreach Committee and Olive Garden. CHS Drama Presents: The Pajama Game - This weekend the CHS drama department will present the Tony award winning musical The Pajama Game on Friday, April 5 at 7:00 pm and on Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 and 7:00 pm. This classic musical features an energetic score that revolves around the relationship between the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory superintendent and the leader of the union grievance committee when workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase. The musical is directed by Evan and Stephanie Felmet. Tickets are $10 adults/$8 students for evening performances and $8 adults/$6 students for the matinee performance. Tickets sold at the door only. 50th Anniversary Artist-Signed Prints Available - Catoctin High School is selling a limited edition print featuring a drawing of Catoctin High School as it was in 1964 with images of Thurmont High School and Emmitsburg High School. The artwork was created by Kim Flabbi especially for Catoctin High School and each print is numbered and signed by the artist. Fifty prints are available for sale for the cost of $50 each. Informational Meeting for 11th Grade Students and Parents - CHS counselors will be presenting important information including graduation and testing requirements, college and career readiness, scholarships and much more for students and parents on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:00 pm. in the CHS Auditorium.
Prom tickets - Prom tickets will be on sale to students during lunch shifts from Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 12. Cost is $35 for a single ticket and $60 for a couple. All students must have a signed dance agreement form when purchasing a ticket (regardless if they went to the 2018 homecoming dance). Cash or checks made payable to CHS Junior Club will be accepted. MAGICC Fair - High school students, what are your plans for after graduation? The 1st Annual Mid-Maryland Agricultural, Green Industry Career and College (MAGICC) Fair will be held on April 10th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm at The Great Frederick Fairgrounds. Open to all high school students and families to offer career exploration, post-graduation planning, college & employment opportunities and possible summer employment positions to students. This is a FREE one-day event where businesses & colleges related to the agricultural/green industry will be present with hands on activities, workshops, on the spot interviews and more. Frederick Fairgrounds. There will be concessions available at the fair provided by the CTC Culinary Arts students (cash only). The event will be held rain or shine. Attention Students – All vehicles parked on school property must have a current 2018-19 parking permit on display in the front window of the vehicle. In addition, vehicles must be parked in student lots only and should not park in areas designated for staff, visitors, or marked reserved. Parking tickets will be issued to all vehicles improperly parked and/or those without a valid permit. Tickets are $20 each. Parking permits may be purchased from the front office for $10. There are limited seats and it is on a first come, first serve basis.
