Out of District Changes: FCPS is improving procedures to better serve students whose families seek to enroll them in a school that is out of the attendance area where they live. To ensure that parents, teachers and administrators are working together to discuss and meet student needs, the new procedures require parents or guardians to re-apply annually for renewed permission to enroll a child in an out-of-district school, not just to apply when the student transitions from pre-k to elementary, elementary to middle or middle to high school.
Out-of-district Applications are due prior May 1st.
Grades:
Interims will be distributed to students on Tuesday March 7th. Please be on the lookout for those.
End of Term 3 is Thursday, March 30th.
This summer, Monocacy students with an interest in science should apply to attend a FREE summer science camp. It's here in Frederick, and is very popular among our students. Many students attended last summer, and speak highly of their camp experience. For more information, see this website: http://www.usaeop.com/frederick/
If your students apply, please have them print out a teacher recommendation form. Have them fill out the top with their name and give it to their science teacher!
Mrs. Ivey's science class are continuing to study Space. Students should be studying their Space Sub Mod 3 Notes as a study guide along with any of their foldables and Moon Phases Lab. We will be learning about eclipses and how we get the seasons in the next 2 weeks before the test.

FCPS BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK MARCH 13th - 19th
Monocacy Middle School will join with FCPS in recognizing the importance of brain related education and care for all students and their families during this week.
Daily morning announcements during this week will share brain facts and tips for the purpose of educating and bringing awareness to our students and staff about protective brain safety, optimal brain nutrition, brain health, and brain anatomy.
Sixth grade students will participate in a brain themed Breakout Edu activity in either their Lab 21 or Life Skills class where they'll need to use their brains to solve a variety of critical thinking challenges within a certain amount of time.
Seventh and eighth graders will participate in several brain themed ELT lessons to increase knowledge and understanding of their own brains!
Mark your calendars at home and learn more about your own brain too!
