PTSA News
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 14th at 7pm in the Media Center. We keep all our meetings to one hour. This will be an important meeting as we vote on our bi-laws, and plan for the rest of the year.
Next year, we will need a new President and Secretary, as well as other various positions. No experience required for either position, but we need both for there to be a PTSA next year. If you are interested, please come next week to the meeting or email presidentnmmsptsa@gmail.com with any questions.
We will hopefully only be having one fundraiser this year! The letter is attached. Please help out the PTSA which supports the school and students with things like assemblies, field trips, clubs, teacher appreciation, etc. We appreciate all the support you can give. You can participate in the fundraiser and pay online at https://fcps.ezcommunicator.net/edu/frederick/GetFile.aspx?DocId=10655
Counselor's Corner
What is Self-Confidence?
“Low self-confidence isn’t a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned practiced, and mastered—just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better.” –Barrie Davenport
Being self-confident means that you believe in yourself. You are not afraid to take risks and face your fears. Self-confident individuals have a positive outlook on life and believe that things will get better when they are not going so well. Having low self-confidence has many negative effects on an individual’s life. With a fear of rejection, our decision making process can become skewed. This could cause an individual to adopt the undesirable values of their group I order to fit in, instead of being confident with their differing opinion. It is so easy for our need to impress to take over our individuality. With strong self-confidence, an individual will have more skills and resources to say “no” to these negative behaviors. Self-confidence can be a great motivational tool for individuals to use.
