News from our Admin Team
Dear Students and Families,
Wow! It’s hard to believe we only have 19 days of school remaining this year! Thank you for your partnership and continued support of our students. We couldn’t do it without you! While we are working hard to finish strong these final days, we are already preparing for the 2023-2024 school year. Speaking of next year, we have some exciting announcements to share:
This time of year brings lots of changes and we will keep our Roo Family updated as staff move on to other exciting places or we have new Roos join us!
Class lists and teachers will not be announced until August.
We have volunteer opportunities at SRES for end of the year parties and field day on May 18th. As you all know, school safety is a priority for us here in FCPS. In light of many events that have occurred at our nation’s schools, we are taking security measures this year to make sure ALL adults on campus are ID checked and volunteer training is completed. Thank you for your understanding.
*Once you are chosen or signed up to be a volunteer, you MUST complete this training if you have not already done so.
Volunteering in FCPS
FCPS is excited to launch our new FCPS Volunteer Center. This new management system features the ability to self-serve for volunteer opportunities in our schools. To begin, you must complete the registration and training as required in our policies. If you are a new volunteer, please create your account registration using the following link: Create an account.
**On the day of the event, you will be asked to sign in showing your ID.
***We will not allow younger siblings to be on campus during parties or field day. Thank you for understanding.
Information
End of the Year parties: Your child’s teacher will communicate with you via email about this opportunity. All parties will take place the last week of school. This will be a lottery system.
Field Day rotations: If you are interested in helping out at a field day rotation, please sign up via this sign-up genius. Mr. Kinsey and Mr. Lynott are looking for lots of volunteers. This would mean you would help run that station with all of the classes who rotate through. We are only looking for volunteers in the AM.

3-5 Sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4faca829aaf4c07-field1#/
Class Help during Field Day. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you via email asking if you would like to help with the class during field day. This means you will rotate through each rotation with your child’s class, similar to a chaperone on a field trip. We are only looking for volunteers in the AM. Your child’s teacher will determine how many volunteers they need for their class. This will also be a lottery system.
****Pre-K will be doing something different with field day. More information will be coming from classroom teachers.
Field Day: We will NOT be asking for volunteers past 12:30pm. We do not need help in the PM. Thanks for understanding.
Reminder: Please bring your ID with you to the front door of our school. After buzzing for entry, the front office secretaries will ask for your identification to be held in front of the buzzer! This applies to ALL parents, even if we know you. Thank you for helping to keep our school and community safe!
SRES Roo Pride,
Mr. Bowser, Principal & Mrs. Copen, Assistant Principal

Thank you so much for respecting that students need to be picked up by 3:30 and that our office is closed from 3:30-4:15 for dismissal. It really makes our dismissal procedures run more smoothly.
Any change in your child's dismissal, including if someone else is picking your child up as a car rider who is not on the emergency card, MUST be shared in writing to our front office by 3:00 P.M. each day. You can email Laura.Mendez@fcps.org and Robin.Fasnacht@fcps.org.
