News from our Admin Team
Dear Students and Families,
The end of the year is FAST approaching. FCPS announced today that the official last day of school will be June 2. This will be a 2 hour early dismissal.
We will be having field day on May 18 as well as end of the year parties. More information will be coming after spring break about volunteer opportunities. Please understand that we will be limiting the amount of volunteers at these events and keeping security very tight. Our job is to make sure these fun events we plan are safe and that all adults present are volunteer trained. Keep an eye out for more information.
The staff at SRES is busy planning for the end of the 2022-2023 school year, but already thinking ahead to the 2023-2024 school year.
We want to wish some of our staff who will not be with us next year the best of luck! Mrs. Titus will be retiring, Ms. Dukes will be moving to Sugarloaf Elementary, and Ms. Barthman has taken a job with Child Find. We wish them the best of luck and thank them for their service to Spring Ridge!
We thank you for your continued support this school year and hope you are your family have a wonderful spring break!
MCAP (The Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program): The MCAP will be given to students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 during the latter part of April and the first part of May. Please see the calendar dates above. We are asking families to make sure your child/ren are present for testing dates.
Here are some tips to set your child/ren up for testing success:
If your child/ren are experiencing test anxiety, please have him/her speak to one of our Guidance Counselors:
Mr. Drews (William.Drews@fcps.org) and
Mrs. Hanko (Jamie.Hanko@fcps.org.
Reminder: Please bring your ID with you to the front door of our school. After buzzing for entry, the front office secretaries will ask for your identification to be held in front of the buzzer! This applies to ALL parents, even if we know you. Thank you for helping to keep our school and community safe!

Feed Frederick Club
SRES is participating with the Feed Frederick Club (from Oakdale High School) to collect nonperishable food items. The goal of the Feed Frederick Club is to raise 50,000 dollars in food this school year. SRES has a bin at Roo Crossing for donations. Upon collecting the food, it will be given to the Frederick Rescue Mission; who then serves it to people in need who live in the Frederick area. The donation bin will be collected monthly. If you would like to donate nonperishable food items, please send them in with your students or bring them to the front office.
Pokemon Cards: Please note that Pokemon cards should not be coming to school. This is becoming a distraction and studets are trading them. This is a good reminder that this applies to ALL toys and gadgets. We are working hard to minimize distractions here at school. Thank you for your support with this.
Thank you so much for respecting that students need to be picked up by 3:30 and that our office is closed from 3:30-4:15 for dismissal. It really makes our dismissal procedures run more smoothly.
Any change in your child's dismissal, including if someone else is picking your child up as a car rider who is not on the emergency card, MUST be shared in writing to our front office by 3:00 P.M. each day. You can email Laura.Mendez@fcps.org and Robin.Fasnacht@fcps.org.
