News from our Admin Team
Dear Students and Families,
SRES Announces MLK Jr. Award Recipient:
Each year Frederick County Public Schools celebrates the leadership qualities of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a winter celebration. A representative from each school is chosen to represent the student body and must possess and demonstrate leadership characteristics both in and out of the classroom.
This year Spring Ridge Elementary is pleased to announce 5th grader Isaac Cummings as our Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award recipient.
We are extremely proud of Isaac and know that he will represent Spring Ridge
Elementary School well as the recipient of this award.
Please join me in congratulating Isaac for this great honor! SRES Proud!
Our next round of Roo Awards are coming up! You will receive an email if your child is chosen for a Roo Award for Quarter 2 by Friday, January 13th.
We are always working on kindness at Spring Ridge Elementary. Please encourage your child to show kindness daily. Talk about how you can do that at school and how small acts of kindness can make someone's day.
Our first party of the year will occur on February 14th, 2023. More information from your child's homeroom teacher will be coming home soon.
Thank you so much for respecting that students need to be picked up by 3:30 and that our office is closed from 3:30-4:15 for dismissal. It really makes our dismissal procedures run more smoothly.
Any change in your child's dismissal, including if someone else is picking your child up as a car rider who is not on the emergency card, MUST be shared in writing to our front office by 3:00 P.M. each day. You can email laura.mendez@fcps.org and Robin.Fasnacht@fcps.org
Virtual snow days are being voted on at the January 11 board meeting. We will keep you updated with any information as it's approved. As of now, snow days are simply that, snow days!
It's hard to believe we are half way through the school year. Thank you for being a partner in your child's education and development. Please never hesitate to reach out to either one of us if you have questions about anything. We appreciate you and look forward to the next half of the school year.
SRES Roo Pride,
Mr. Bowser, Principal & Mrs. Copen, Assistant Principal

Community News
SRES is participating with the Feed Frederick Club (from Oakdale High School) to collect nonperishable food items. The goal of the Feed Frederick Club is to raise 50,000 dollars in food this school year. SRES has a bin at Roo Crossing for donations. Upon collecting the food, it will be given to the Frederick Rescue Mission; who then serves it to people in need who live in the Frederick area. The donation bin will be collected monthly. If you would like to donate nonperishable food items, please send them in with your students or bring them to the front office.

Office-Please note that the office is closed from 3:30-4:15. We are in the middle of dismissal during this time and answering the doorbell during this time can be very difficult. Please plan to pick your child up by 3:30 if they are leaving early.
Eating lunch with your child: You are welcome, on occasion, to come eat lunch with your child. We ask that if someone other than a parent, who is not on the emergency card, comes to eat lunch that you notify us in writing that you are giving permission for them to come. If that person is NOT on the emergency card and we can not contact you, they may be denied entry.
