Hello Falcon Families,
We hope you enjoyed our math morning! Thank you for coming to learn more about your child's math focuses for the year.
Ask your child about our Lunch Out of Landfills program that we started this week. We are doing a better job composting and recycling to decrease the amount of waste our school sends to the landfill. We are also gearing out for a kindness initiative to celebrate Anti-Bullying and will be enjoying a program on October 7th. Our PTA clubs are in fill swing and we are so thankful to the PTA board. Did you know that there are only a handful of parents doing all the work of clubs? They could really use your help! Feel free to email me and I can connect you to our PTA or come join a meeting! The next one is October 28th at 4:30. The Book fair, teacher appreciations, and more could use volunteers to help our school. Our Free and Reduced Meal rate is currently at 49.7% with children who qualified last year expiring in the next two weeks. We have incurred lots of school lunch charges so we could really use your help in making sure you complete the form if you qualify. Notices from the front office are going out daily for costs our school is incurring around lunch time meals. Speaking of lunch time meals, we are happy to have you at lunch but please remember that you can not share food with other children. We have some extreme allergies in the building this year including peanuts and tree nuts. Remember we do not allowed sharing of opened food due to this. We do not allow parents to buy snacks for someone else's child due to this as well. Thank you for your help regarding these issues. We appreciate all you do for our school!
Yours in Education,
Mrs. Seiss

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.

Counselor's Corner-
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The month of October NFES will join the world and our country by shining a spotlight
on the very disturbing problem of Bullying. We will be doing several things to raise the
awareness of what bullying type behavior is, and how to overcome it. Throughout this
month I will be visiting classes to help students identify the difference between being a
By-Stander and an Upstander, what a Target is and what constitutes Bully behavior. We
will discuss the different players in a bullying triangle and strategies to help. No child
should have to bear the burden of being bullied, and we are planning to do all that we
can to assure that NFES is a bully free zone and most importantly a caring and safe
place to learn! Please find the month of October’s school wide activities below. You’ll
find a variety of fun ways to promote kindness and empathy (the antithesis of Bullying). Please prepare your child to participate on:
