Happy Holidays to you! Please enjoy your families and remember-we need you back January 2nd as we get right back to business and some important learning in term 2. We want to make the most of every day especially with inclement weather happenings! Thank you to all staff and families who have donated to our food bank over the season for giving! It is not too late to stop in with a can of food or a monetary donation to help pay for a child’s lunch in the future new year! Our food bank is open to those in need and all you have to do is call the front office during our regular hours. We also have received a few new winter coats if you are in need.
Our PTA has sent out new club schedules this week. Please be advised that all clubs are run by PTA so many staff and volunteers are donating their time. Some clubs are run by outside organizations and are sponsored by the PTA such as the play, or chess or sewing. In those cases these organizations may require a fee if you sign your child up. Please read the flyer closely. Please remember when you sign permission, you are permitting these organizations or volunteers to supervise your child at these times.
In the new year it is our goal for our little ones to walk to class as needed with a staff member and to leave parents or guardians in the foyer. This helps us with the traffic of the front office. Parents and grandparents are certainly welcome to sign in if they need something or to touch base with a teacher before 8:17. Thanks for you help building their independence.
We hope your break is wonderful but we will miss you!
Mrs. Seiss

Did You Know...?
School closings or delays due to inclement weather can be found in multiple ways- 1) FCPS will send out a Find Out First with the information as early as possible, 2) you can check on www.FCPS.org, 3) TV and local radio stations. We respectfully request that you use these ways to be informed. The school front office is not informed sooner than Find Out First and at times struggles handling the volume of calls with weather questions. Thank you for your help!
You can put money on your child's lunch account online! - If you would like to update your child's lunch account, please visit: http://www.myschoolbucks.com.

To ALL parents/guardians of students participating in the MET play production of 'The Rockin' Tale of Snow White'...
- Ms. Hudson has created a Dojo Classroom to provide a central location for information and updates regarding the play. This will be the site to find rehearsal updates, music that needs to be rehearsed, videos of choreography, etc. She has emailed the invite AND sent the classroom code home with each play participant to join.
- Please find the following links to both the cast list AND rehearsal schedule below. Moving forward, your child only needs to attend rehearsals when their part is listed in the far right column --> "WHO." Please refer to the cast list to see which part(s) your child is playing. Also, when "ALL" is listed, everyone will need to be in attendance.
- All rehearsals will be after school until 4:30. For each rehearsal that your child will be staying after school to attend, the front office must be notified that you have given permission via note, email, or phone call.
- We are requesting that parents/grandparents commit to attending at least 2 rehearsals a month to help monitor rehearsals. Please look at the rehearsal schedule and consider dates you would be able to help out. We greatly appreciate your willingness to support. - If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Hudson on Class Dojo or by email at tarah.hudson@fcps.org. This is such an incredible opportunity for our Falcons. We are really looking forward to the process and, of course, the final production!

Counselor's Corner-
Dear Families,
Have you heard the news? Character Education is our primary focus for the Falcon Awards this school year and we are rolling out the new year with lots of good character fun! We will kick off the first week back from winter break with a special segment on the morning announcements called, "Character Counts at North Frederick." Each day of the first week back to school a classroom will visit the Falcon News Morning Show to teach others about one of the pillars. Creative minds are already coming up with great ideas. One of our PreK teachers, Ms. Wenner, will have her students decorate rocks with kind messages and hide them all around the primary playground for a lucky student to find! Another teacher is planning to have her students read a poem about Fairness. We can't wait to see and hear what other classrooms will do! Consider incorporating these 6 pillars of character into your day to day language with your children. Maybe ask, "How have you shown trustworthiness today", or "How did your teacher demonstrate fairness during the conflict you are describing?" Children are always watching and listening to you too! When you are modeling respect or responsibility make a point to have a conversation with your child and let them know the 6 pillars are for adults too!
