Help us work on getting our attendance percentage back up to 96% this year!
Notes from the Front Office:
- Morning Car rider line- If possible, please help us by having your child able to exit out of the car on the curb side to keep everyone safe and help to keep our line moving efficiently. Thank you!
- The front office is closed from 2:30-3pm every day to allow the front office to dismiss all children in a safe and timely fashion.
- Please remember to bring a government issued photo ID when visiting the school and/or signing students out of the school.
- We require all transportation changes, both daily and permanent to be provided in writing via a note or email for safety reasons. Emails can be sent to Jennifer.mathers@fcps.org
-We appreciate transportation changes to be submitted by 2pm if possible.
Thank you for being so understanding and helping NFES keep our students safe.

FCPS Free & Reduced Meals Program - Free and reduced-price meals are available to families with limited ability to pay. Eligibility is based on family size and income guidelines developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Families who received free and reduced meal benefits last year, must re-apply for the new school year. A new application must be completed each year. Children within the same family but attending multiple FCPS schools can be included together on one form. The forms can be obtained and returned (completed) to any school office. FCPS Food and Nutrition Services will notify families whether they qualify. It may take up to 10 days to process your application, so please apply as early as possible. BUS DELAY INFORMATION
FCPS has a Transportation Delay Board that you can access easily when you wonder why your child's bus hasn't arrived yet.
Bus Delay will let you know!
This can also be found on the FCPS.org website under "Our Schools" tab. The Bus Delay link is on the right side under "Quick Links". It updates often, so keep checking. This is faster than calling your child's school!
Upcoming Events-
PTA News-
Thanks to all who supported the Scholastic Book Fair last week!
Thanks to the families who shopped with us throughout the last school year, PTA was able to purchase four large boxes of books to fill individual class libraries to support the school’s goal of increasing independent reading!
PTA is grateful to Renaissance Chef and Olive Garden for their sizeable donations to the Teacher Dinner during conference week. We appreciate their generosity and the parents who donated dessert and shared their time to organize and clean up the meal. We received “rave reviews” complimenting the food!
See below for upcoming PTA Sponsored events at NFES!
PTA is still seeking a Communications Secretary to be sure that we are effectively sharing ALL the great things that are happening year-round. Counselor's Corner-
Dear Families, Girls relationships are often more complicated than that of boys. Much of my day, as the School Counselor, is helping girls problem solve the ups and downs of their relationships. Please take a moment to share the True Friend tips (link below), as well as the resources found from the website below. Boys can certainly benefit from the tips as well!

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.

Let’s continue to CELEBRATE our diverse school community!!! NFES is having a Spanish Speaking Community Night in November, so stay tuned for the date and time!!
