To our parents and community: A big THANK YOU to our volunteers for all the work that you have done to support Linganore this year. We appreciate the work of our PTSA, Band Boosters, and Athletic Boosters. Your time, energy, creativity, and donations are appreciated.
We wish Ms. Christa Angelone (Latin teacher), Ms. Nina Bell (special education program assistant), Mrs. Patricia Hatley (custodian), Mrs. Jill Harmer (special education teacher), Mrs. Jane McKenzie (special education teacher), and Mrs. Lee Standifer (principal’s secretary) our best as they retire this year. We also extend best wishes to other staff members who are leaving Linganore: Leslie Byrd, Richard Cruz-Sanchez, Andrew Giacco, Connor Knight, Jayden Vacura and Mary Jo York.
Important Dates and Times to Remember • The last day of school for FCPS high school students is Tuesday, June 18. Wednesday, June 19 is reserved for students who need to make up exams or attend for another specific reason. Buses will run on June 19 for those students who need to attend; please note that dismissal will be at 12:15 that day.
• Throughout most of the summer, FCPS schools and offices will operate on a four-day workweek with extended hours Mondays through Thursdays (closed on Fridays). Hours for the Central Office will be 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. during the four-day summer workweeks. This schedule takes effect the week of June 24. During the week of July 1-5, schools will be open regular hours on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday but will be closed on Thursday in observance of Independence Day.
• The first school day for students is Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
• Be on the lookout for FOF messages over the summer to share updates about Freshman Orientation (Wednesday, August 21) and Back-to-School Night (Wednesday, August 28).
• Schedules will be available through HAC on August 12.
A Note from the Nurse Students are not permitted to take their medications home at the end of the school year (FCPS Regulation 400-23). An adult must pick up all medications currently in the health room by 2:30 on Wednesday, June 19.

National English Honor Society News Congratulations to recent graduate Spencer Derrenberger. Using Adobe Illustrator, he designed digital badges that will be incorporated into the new NEHS badging program. This badging program will be available to thousands of chapters across the country who are striving to be recognized as "National English Honor Society Distinguished Chapter." As early as next year, the digital badges will be used on email signatures, letterhead, blog posts and websites around the country!

Mountain Bike Club Team For the first time ever, Linganore High School will be having a Mountain Bike Club Team next year. Practices and races will be fun and laid back, and no prior experience is required! Don’t have a bike? Not a problem…there will be opportunities to get one. Interested students and their parents will meet on Thursday, June 27th at 6:30 P.M. in the LHS Learning Commons, Room B200. Please join us to learn more! LHS Summer Camps Girls Basketball Camp for girls currently in 3rd - 8th grade will be held Monday, June 24th - Thursday, June 27th from 1 - 5 PM. For more information, go to Girls Basketball Camp. Boys Basketball Camp will hold two sessions this summer for 2nd through 8th grade. The first session is July 8-11 and the the second session July 22-25. Camp will run from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm in the LHS Gym. Student Services Summer Hours and Schedule Information: Student schedules will be available in HAC starting on Monday, August 12. If you find your schedule to be incorrect or incomplete, please submit a schedule change request form by 2:30 pm on Friday, August 23. No schedule change forms will be accepted August 24 to September 4. Students may submit schedule change forms for the last time for fall semester September 5 and 6. All schedule change requests must be initiated with a schedule change request form which can found at: https://education.fcps.org/lhs/scheduling
A school counselor is in Student Services each day in the summer, Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, except the week of July 1 to 5 when Student Services is closed due to the student information system being updated. Counselors continue to work on student schedules throughout the summer for balance in individual schedules and balance in class size.
Frederick County Virtual School (FCVS) Registration open for 19-20 School Year: VOS (Virtual Outside of School) is a blended-learning program designed for students who are independent learners and have consistent access to the Internet and a computer outside of school. Online resources are the primary source of learning, and most courses are taught at the honors level. Students are required to attend a few face-to-face evening sessions for instruction and/or proctoring exams with the course teacher. Sign up EARLY to reserve a seat in the course you want to take because courses fill up quickly! Students register through the school counselor.

Financial Aid Night at Linganore – Tuesday, September 17 at 7:15. Staff from Hood College’s Financial Aid Office will present information about types of financial aid and how important it is for families and students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FCC College Fair - Wednesday, October 2 from 6 to 8 pm. FCC hosts the largest college fair in Frederick County. This is a great opportunity for students and their families to start the college search process.
