Thank you for a great year Lancers! A reminder: Only those students who need to make-up exams or work with their teachers should attend Friday, June 15. The buses will run their regular routes but high school students do not attend unless they need to make-up work.

Chromebook Collection Students with Chromebooks should be prepared to return their Chromebook, charger and case beginning Monday, June 11th. Chromebooks should be charged in order to turn them in. Attention Class of 2019 Senior portraits have been scheduled for July 9-11! Families will receive a postcard from Victor O’Neill Studios by the end of this month with your student’s appointment time, along with other important information for the portrait sitting. Instructions for rescheduling appointment dates/times will be on the postcard. If your child will be out of town July 9-11, senior make-up portraits are scheduled for September 26–27. A Message from the Health Room All medications currently in the health room must be picked up by an adult before 1 PM on Friday, June 15. Students are not permitted to take their medications home at the end of the school year (FCPS Regulation 400-23). Health room hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM - 2:30 PM.
LHS Summer Camps Basketball Camp for girls currently in grades 3 - 8 will be held Tuesday, June 19 - Friday, June 22 from 1 - 5 PM. For more information, go to Girls Basketball Camp. Football Camp for grades 2-8 will be held Tuesday, June 19 - Friday, June 22 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. For more information click on Football Camp. Softball Camp for students currently in 1st through 8th grade. The Softball Camp will be held on Monday, July 9 through Thursday, July 12 from 9 AM - 1 PM. Cheer Camp for students in grades K-2 and Grades 3-8. Summer Cheer Camp will be held Monday, July 16 - Thursday, July 19. For more information, go to Cheer Camp. Speed Training on the LHS Turf for high school students to maximize technique, gain speed, agility and quickness. Sessions begin on Wednesday, June 22, and run every Wednesday and Friday through Wednesday, August 1. (closed 7/4) The cost is $65 and includes a free t-shirt. FCPS Summer Meals Program FCPS is offering FREE Breakfast & Lunch, Monday through Thursday, from June 18 - August 16, 2018. This program is free to all children 18 years old and younger. A message from FCPS Food and Nutrition Services: The automatic payment feature in My School Bucks has been disabled for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year.
Parents: This means that if your child's balance gets below your specified amount, the student meal account will not automatically replenish. You will need to go online to add funds to your My School Bucks account or send a check to the school. We are sorry for any inconvenience. If you have questions, please call 301-644-5061.
Athletics - Physical Form Information The Fall 2018 Athletic Season for tryouts begins on Wednesday, August 8. You will need a physical evaluation completed on April 1, 2018 or after and must be completed before the try-out date in order for the astudent-athlete to be allowed to participated on the first day. (Wed. Aug. 8, 2018) for the 2018-2019 school year. For a 2018-19 physical evaluation form, go to http://www.fcps.org/athletics/index. Athletes must also complete the FCPS Student-Athlete Booklet which can be found online at the above website once it opens. Winter 2018 Sports begin on Wednesday, November 15, and Spring 2018 Sports begin on Thursday, March 1.

Please be aware of the expiration date on the pharmacy label when bringing the medication to the health room with the new authorization form. School health staff will determine medication expiration by the date printed on the pharmacy label.
Please note EpiPens, Diastat, Glucagon and inhalers have an expiration date printed on the container in addition to the pharmacy label. Therefore the container expiration date must be equal to or exceed the expiration date on the pharmacy label. Please make sure the expiration date on the individual medication container exceeds the expiration date on the label before leaving the pharmacy. All of the appropriate forms can be obtained from the health room or by going to www.fcps.org and clicking on the form you need. Juniors: Thank you to the Juniors and their parents who attended the College Information Night this week. The presentation is posted on the left-hand side of the School Counseling page of the Linganore website ( https://education.fcps.org/lhs/counseling). Another nice resource for gather information about colleges is Niche (https://www.niche.com/colleges/search/best-colleges/). There is information on top colleges along with a college search option and information about most colleges with “reviews” written by students.
All Students and Parents: A school counselor is in Student Services each day in the summer, Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, except the week of July 2 to 6 when Student Services is closed due to the student information system being updated. Counselors continue to work on student schedules throughout the summer for balance in individual schedules and balance in class size. Student schedules will be available in HAC starting on Monday, August 13. If you find your schedule to be incorrect or incomplete, please submit a schedule change request form by 2:30 pm on Friday, August 24. No schedule change forms will be accepted August 25 to September 5. Students may submit schedule change forms for the last time for fall semester September 6 and 7. All schedule change requests must be initiated with a schedule change form which can found at: https://education.fcps.org/lhs/scheduling

Underclassmen: Registration for Frederick County Virtual School’s summer and next-year programs are now open. Students may earn one credit through summer school or take one class at a time during the school year. Most classes are for credit recovery but some classes may be taken for original credit. See your school counselor for registration materials. It is important to register NOW because classes fill quickly. Health and Fitness classes for summer are already full.
