Lancer Lines Linganore High School News August 29, 2020
From the Principal: Lancers,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! While it is not a year like any of us could have imagined, your teachers and administrators are so excited to welcome you back to school, even in a virtual way! The LHS Mission of Academics, Accountability, and Attitude is still the overarching theme of our work this year: your teachers are planning creative and challenging lessons and we are all embracing a positive and courageous mindset as we embark on this semester. This is new territory for many of us, teachers and students alike, and it is through collaboration and flexibility that we will meet with success. Please reach out to your assistant principal, your counselor, and your teachers as questions arise throughout the semester. In case you did not get to view these presentations, please take a look at our links provided below.

Student Information Cards now online as Power School Registration: (Returning Student Registration)
On Monday, August 24, parents/guardians received an email from PowerSchool Registration, our secure online student enrollment system. The email provided instructions on how to use the secure online portal to update student information for the coming school year. PowerSchool Registration (Returning Student Registration) will replace the paper Student Information Cards of the past. In addition, we will request parent/guardian contact, transportation and health information along with responses to Agreements, such as Media Exposure and Terms of Use information, be entered in the portal.

Frederick County Goes Purple:
Frederick County will observe National Recovery Month this September by launching Frederick County Goes Purple (FCGP). FCGP is a massive grassroots call-to-action to unify our Frederick County community and reduce substance-related deaths and overdoses. According to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, there were 245 non-fatal and 49 fatal opioid-related overdoses in Frederick County in 2019. The non-fatal figure is down by 34 and fatalities are down by 6 as compared to 2018, but we still have work to do.
There are three Key Messages promoted by the campaign:
1. WE CARE- Frederick County supports those who struggle with addiction and their loved ones.
2. HOPE/HELP IS HERE- The Frederick County community offers hope and resources.
3. LET’S TALK- We invest in the youth of Frederick County through prevention education.
How can you support Frederick County Goes Purple?
The entire community is encouraged to ‘Go Purple’ this September and throughout the year to bring awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders, and to celebrate those living in recovery.
For additional information about additional Frederick County Goes Purple events visit the website at www.FrederickCountyGoesPurple.com.
